Why don’t we have an episode with Feld, AMA, Dirt Wurx honcho and the lovely production crew? You know to get some shit straightened out. We are a joke with basically the same tracks every week , a crap tv production who can’t do the simplest things and make us look bad, and the list goes on. Instead of talking to riders every week why don’t you use your platform to make our sport better. We are a long winded sport with zero creativity, need new ideas and fresh blood.

Steve does use his platform to make the sport better.  I think it’s a great idea to get all of them in the studio, but not for a bitchfest, more like bring them in to give them kudos and thanks for what they do.

I met Steve IRL once at A1 a few years ago. I got his attention and pulled him aside for a second and told him I appreciate the content he puts out and asked him a couple questions pertinent to the sport at the time. He was as normal as a person could be considering a stranger was talking to him and wasting his time. Never once did I think to ask him for a photograph, that seems weird.

A lot of these comments seem to be straight up fallen fan behavior. Grinning

This here, if you listen to the show he’s stated multiple times he’s not a people person. Keefer gives him grief about it on a regular basis. If you want to meet him go to one of his live shows where he said he feels obligated to meet with the common folk.

The amount of people who want to pull him aside to say thanks and they love the show, must get pretty tiresome haha I get it, that’s his audience.

I think the biggest thing, he often alludes to is, he is at the races - working. He’s working, people interrupting, as much as you want to be polite, but he’s there to talk to riders, team personnel, track builders, watch and cover the days racing.

Then buy them dinner. Personally I don’t want to just “bitch” I want to have creative ideas that solve issues our sport are running into. That may be just me then so be it. Things can be done

Working. His review show starts with 15-20 mins of food talk!
Last show his partner says He just talks non-moto whilst there.

The pulp show has regressed. I skip half off it now. I listen to reraceables because weege and now Seth’s enthusiasm make it great, and the review show is again made by weege and JT.
Steve’s pompous attitude is tiresome, and a true reflection of his jadedness. PulpMx used to be quality,

I met Steve at Red Bud a few years ago. He was super cool and took a picture with my brother and me. We didn't bother trying to start a conversation just exchanged hellos.

Talking non moto is part of the job.  Building relationships is part of the job. If every conversation he has with everyone at the track is an interview then well, that’s a press conference and it’s not nearly the same. You do notice the non moto talk is WITH moto industry people or riders.  It’s still work even if it doesn’t look like work from your POV.

i can see how you feel the pulp show regressing, after so many years so many of the old stories have been told, the main racers have been interviewed and so it has to become more current moment only, which is harder to maintain a specific quality.

to me the Vital and Pulp review shows are on par, and I listen to Moto60 but don’t listen to the main shows purely because there’s now so many podcasts of different genre I listen to now - cinema, news/politics, tech/tech dystopia - that I just can’t justify the time, but will watch’s the clipped interviews and it’s kind of as good as every but never reaches the highs of the best of the best crazy episodes.  But they are memorable becuase they are rare.

"he wants the sport to stay exactly as it is"

- He is the inventor and intellectual proprietor of the MATTHES NETS

- He is raising the level of RaceDayLive with his TV jacket

- hates the way AMs are run in America. Often promotes the euro way.

- wants new tough blocks

- LCQ challenge which is THIS weekend btw. Last year was $100K+ payout.

- helps others with their podcasts (keefer, Lewis + Kellen, etc.)

- literally brings privateers from the island and showcases them to the world to become fan favourites (Phil, A Ray, Cade, Harlan, etc.)

... only a few that come to mind.

If you want juice instead of fluff Blair’s new show is TWTG. Complete 180 from BBD. Good on him.

Here's my take, Steve is a buffoon. I do love the show in spite of him and listen every week. I hate the way his voice shrieks and goes up and down every time he gets on one of his boring rants. But you can't say he doesn't want to change the sport. If you say that you don't listen. And as far as having to gladhand every horny fan… Fuck that. If that's not who you are and you don't care about growing your own brand in that way… ignore those idiots.

Some of you guys sound like you need to fill out a hurt feelings report. Steve is there doing his job. If you were at your job and you had a full day of work ahead of you would you want to stop and bullshit with someone asking you a bunch of questions?  Just remember you’re there for pleasure. He’s there for work. I understand you want to say hi and that’s fine and all but just remember he’s there to do his job. If he has the time I’m sure he would say hi. He might be on the way to interview someone he only has a certain time he can get it in or whatever.

I agree with Phil, and Tomac; where is the data showing the whoops and dragon back crashing stats? And if there is enough data, why wouldn't they tell the riders ahead of time there's going to be changes to the '24 track designs? All the riders have been practicing on long whoops and dragon backs all Fall in preparation. Why wouldn't you ask the racers FIRST before making such changes without their input? Its not AMA/Feld's job to stop riders from crashing on everyday obstacles. If anything, you tame it down first instead of just plain cut them out completely. This sport is supposed to be the toughest, not "safe". These guys fly their 250lb bikes 30 ft up and 80 ft out. Its not a safe sport. Bring Back Lime, real whoops, and dragon backs.

That’s pretty funny.

How exactly did Steve “strong arm them”?

Threaten to not cover Supercross?

Say mean things about them?

Feld literally pays for the whole event, schedule, track maintenance, safety crew.

Just because they don’t put out a pr statement saying look at us does mean it ain’t happening.

All this benefits the privateers.

And you bag on them for it.

Well done.

I guess you missed read comprehension class, because I can’t see how I talked bad about anyone. Maybe calm down a bit

He strong armed them by coming up with different way to disrupt the lcq so a privteer could get the money. He said he’d pay lady place all the money just to show FELD he has power in this. Feld saw how bad that could go, and agreed to have a race for him.

No, You basically described him perfectly. As I have seen numerous times He's just not a very good individual in many ways as much as he feels he his. But I guess the privateer Race he's doing this coming weekend is a good gesture, even though he will go on and on about how special of person he is for doing it.

Steve read an entire email that I wrote him during the show about 10 years ago. Hearing that during the week when I was listening to the podcast really made it personal for me and I had been listening for a few years before that. I've been a big fan ever since. I remember exactly where I was standing when I heard the segment.

i dont get the steve hate. whether you like him or not he really does a lot of things that he does not have to do at all for all of us that follow the sport religiously, and the privateers of the sport. 4+ hour radio show nearly every week, several different podcasts (some put out weekly), post moto interviews, sunday reviews, etc. i dont think people realize how much work goes into all of it. realistically he could wrap it up today if he wanted,  but i hope he stays at it for years to come.

The more I say the more of a whiny bitch I sound.  I definitely don't "hate" the dude.  I don't know him.  My encounters were a bit odd and wondered if others could say if I caught him on a bad day...he's always that way...or he just didn't like the cut of my jib.Silly

I go to the races pretty regular and like others have said DC, Glover, Roger..even ML are folks I try to chat with and they spend too much of their time on my dumbass.   Chances are good I'll bump into Steve at some point.  When I do, I'll just nod, say "What's up" and keep movin' on my merry way.Smile

You nailed it in your original post. DC will stop and talk to most anyone and make you feel like you are long lost friends.

Steve has an arrogance that says keep away. That’s fine with me, I wouldn’t have anything to say to him if he was willing to shoot the shit.
