Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Austin Forkner has seen some major injuries and setbacks during his racing career and while carrying the red plate in Arlington, it came unraveled. While in control of the main event, Forkner had a small mistake in a rhythm lane that ended with one of the biggest get-offs we've seen in Supercross. After spending the remainder of the main event laying on the concrete, he was able to remount to his feet and board the Alpinestars medic cart. Best wishes to Austin.

 I've seen that face contorted from overwhelming pain too many times. 

There's something wrong when a guy racing on dirt crashes, and his injuries are in large part from him landing on concrete. I get that they wanna have a 'lane' around the outside that guys can use to get themselves back on the track after they've pulled off for whatever reason, but having exposed concrete so close to a rhythm lane of all places is insane IMO

Good point sir, with all the effort they put into the jumps and 100’s of truckloads of dirt they could make some kind of padding on the side.  The riders don’t need the whole perimeter but maybe the concrete is there to make it easier for the trucks to get in and out to clean up the track quicker.  Jett and Austin both crashed there and Austin came up short with a g-out and a headshake at that same spot on a different lap.

I remember Albertyn doing an accidental superman off the bike onto the concrete and landing on his back where they spine-boarded him.  Ironically, the perimeter is also for Alpinestars to give the riders a smooth exit but HOW MUCH WORSE OF A CRASH IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THEM TO START FOLLOWING BASIC PROTOCOLS TO IMMOBILIZE WITH A POSSIBLE NECK OR BACK INJURY?  Austin broke his lumbar spine and he could have have had permanent nerve damage.

Maybe once the main starts they can come in with some kids playground footing but it’s a lot of area to cover.  No doubt the other camera angle was a massive hit to Austin’s back where there had to be some injuries and thankfully his neck didn’t twist too bad but he’s definitely out for a while again.  He had crashed at Arlington before too so maybe this is tough dirt for him but that was the toughest section if Jett, Barcia, and Vialle crashed there too.  They have been reconsidering some obstacles but sometimes the track just wears bad.

Forkner is one of the best riders with the worst luck.  If Deegan was talking about “sending it” you gotta give credit to Forkner for that effort.  Luck so bad even one of his contact lenses popped out on the dry track.  Send him a get-well card!

The open area on the outskirts of the track is more for emergency personnel and race logistics. Laying down dirt wouldn't work, simply due to the fact that it gets so much foot/machine traffic.  They could however, lay down some industrial rubber matting.

Exactly.  He thought he had it won, relaxed, and then celebrated a little with that little jump then pushed the front down going into the dip . I know we've all pretty much have done that with the forks but it bit him big .

I’d be looking behind me too if Deegan was talking about a fight to the death, going for blood, and trying to take me out once already in the heat race.  Metal Mulisha spiked chest protectors and sticking out your venom snake-bite cobra tongue is cool in freestyle but premeditated run-ins shouldn’t be celebrated or encouraged in Supercross. Post-race Deegan said, “I was ready to cook up a nasty battle at the end.”

Deegan got his win with apparently aggressive riding on Forkner just like it appeared that another generational talent Jett did where it looked like he could have taken down Forkner bumping into a tuff block since it didn’t look so innocent how his bike completely crossed the track with his skill level and I didn’t hear about any particular part getting stuck like the comment below where the fork lug clipped thinking riders can sometimes be too aggressive.  If Austin reads Vital Mx he can feel flattered that there’s a possibility that the best in the business 2 generational riders may have had to get aggressive with him en route to winning when he may have not made it so easy with his own skills.  If Forkner didn’t crash and beat Deegan the idea is that he could be thought of as a two time generational talent by now.  

Did anyone see how good Austin was riding in practice on rails before the heat race incident?  He got lucky to shake off the first hit but I am sure he was wondering when the next would come not even dealing with the sketchy track.  I don’t want to believe Forkner would have just thrown the race away with his new technique attitude working with Hughes unless the youtube movie star was over-revving his bike behind me looking to bang some bars but that jump was the hardest.  

If it was just a freak accident I still don’t like how Ricky was eating his popcorn about the heat race run-in rooting for Deegan who I made a mistake to think bought his farm since he helped train him and Star is there but my main point is that I don’t want Forkner to be done yet especially at another one of the opening rounds and he should be called generational too.  

Deegan bounced back with a good attitude “never say quit” but he was talking like he was looking to do it any way he could which is the mindset of a winner but wasn’t necessary and he hasn’t crashed as hard as Forkner has to make the comebacks.  If he’s got a wrist injury he should look at someone like AC and not try and be tough with nerves if it needs a little bit of time to heal. Between the bike contact and how big Austin’s crash was I just wish things happened different and I don’t know how long it will take Forkner to return or what he will come back to have to deal with again.

Star bought the farm long before Deegan came along...idk what that has to do with Deegan besides the fact the team owns it. And to your other comment, Jett clipped his fork lug on a bale and shot him into the other lane, he didn't cross jump. Blaming him for a racing incident is retarded, it's not like Jett wanted to end up there...

Nice rant, I'm sure that took some time, you're just wrong about a lot.

I made a mistake to think the Deegans had something to do with the farm since the RC family helped him as they did Jett because of them being part of the business side of the sport.

Jett has such good skills on a bike to his credit that I thought clipping a tuff block could be an easy way to block if someone wanted like the desperate looking mud slide RJ did into Jett.  Riders can get carried away or get away with moves if a championship is on the line and I was just thinking to give Forkner credit if he was on the receiving end of some aggressive riding instead of it all being his own fault with unforced errors.  With how intense Deegan was with his aggressive attitude I was hoping the nice guy who gets run into would win or at least not have his 4th major recent injury happen unaccounted for when he had the speed to challenge the field.  I am less against Jett or Deegan but wanted to show how Austin who doesn't go for the kill can easily end up with a bad deal.
