And we saw Mr. Bean looking like he needs some anti depressants after another loss to the aussie boys.  Another great 100% expected outcome.

Yeah, that’s what I’m leaning towards as well since a UCL requires surgery. Tough out the last SX and then get it repaired and be back for a couple motos late in the season (hopefully) and then SMX.

I just want to say I am clearly not a webb fan but do not wish injury or hardship on any of these guys and would much rather see the guys I don't root for get beat straight up. It's OK to still have empathy for people you don't love.

Just like I've said with chase, talking about the issues you've had along the way isn't the same thing as making excuses. It's just reality. Wish the fans and haters didn't selectively pile on and interpret similar things in wildly different ways based on whether they like a guy or not.

UCL, connects thumb to the back of the hand.  Requires surgical repair, and without it you have drastically reduced grip strength.

Isn't this what Baggett tore back a few years ago at RedBud?

How big do you feel of yourself after that post?   Who did you high five or chest bump after you hit submit?

UCL goes from Thumb to elbow. Many baseball pitchers tear theirs at elbow. Tommy John surgery for this named after a MLB pitcher. I detached mine at thumb on throttle hand back in 2006 when I fell off balance out of truck unloading an ATV and hit the loading ramp and bent my thumb all the back to forearm area above my wrist. Had a same day procedure where they attached the ligament with a pin in my thumb. Was in a hard cast for a couple months, then a soft cast I could remove for showers, PT, etc. I started riding carefully with the soft cast after trimming it down to make my glove fit. Overall time for full healing and rehab was about 3 months IIRC.

Dude, the UCL does NOT go from your thumb to your elbow. There are TWO separate UCL's, one on the thumb and one on the elbow. Not doubting you tore your UCL, but geez the bad information on here from people just straight up giving the wrong facts is wild.

Walker Buehler of the Dodgers is returning Monday after almost two years of recovery from getting tearing his UCL and getting Tommy John surgery. Pitching is a totally different movement than what riders do on the bike, but it’s still a very serious injury and recovery time for Webb will be long. You riding with a cast three months after surgery is wild lol.

There are two UCL.... they aren't connected.

The elbow UCL is such a big deal for pitchers because of the torque they put on their elbow with throwing motion.

Not the same injury as the thumb UCL injury even though both ligaments are called ulnar collateral ligament. Medicine is dumb.

I always want to give riders the benefit of the doubt in these situations, but this injury reportedly started in Birmingham, which was Round 9. We heard absolutely nothing about it until this week when he was effectively out of title contention. I’ll never understand why riders do this, this isn’t the UFC, other riders aren’t going to target your injured thumb. Be honest about it, to say it now and to ride down the start straight with your hand off the bars just looks performative and like excuses

Yeah it’s contra-productive.

”I don’t want to give my competition any confidece by telling it”

Well riding around in 5th place acting like you are fine and letting your competition belive that they beat you straight up, THAT will give them confidence.

If you are honest and tell it like it is, the other riders will probably be more impressed if you beat most of them with an injury.

but that is a american thing, if a GP rider is hurt we all get to know it.

Years ago, pretty sure Alessi had a knee injury and trying to finish the season and a rider pretty much t boned and ended it on purpose. Would think riders would race an injured guy a bit harder knowing they are injured and less likely to battle for positions.

Exactly.

So many miserable people here acting like fans of the sport.

Media has turned all forms of motorsports into a soap opera of personalities.

Thus people into fanbois, instead of fans of the racing.

Unable to enjoy the race being presented at the moment, or as it develops over the course of the season(s).

Instead, they just seethe when their favorites aren't winning.

Then degrade anyone not stroking it for any racer that's not their own favorite.

Tough season for Webb fans. Barcia gave Webb a gimme by knocking Jett into outer space and tightening the points up and you guys actually thought it was Webb that was putting in work. Webb should realistically be down like 40pts, down in the shadow realm like Sexton and Tomac.

Jett is just on that necks level.

Well about the only rider today that other riders would target would be Vince so I’m pretty positive you aren’t putting a target by being upfront with an injury

This place has gotten so close Instagram, it is getting hard to read.  I miss the days of Lenny, Raining Yellow, bears, when the content on these boards had substance.

Heck, I was even just reading my local TN FB MX groups yesterday, and a certain Vital poster that had a lot of Stark influence recently moved from LA to Nashville where he has been for a year.  He basically said "this place sucks, moto here sucks, I am moving"  which similar to the comment above, probably made himself feel better.  Not at all thinking he looks like an ass because if you moved 2500 miles across the country, you should have been intelligent enough to know what you were moving to, and also, no chance the locals could see that as in insult?  I could basically hear everybody saying "don't let the door hit you on the way out".

LOL. I didn't say I was riding good and was never fast Smile It was a CALVMX Practice/play day and was riding my unruly 1980 YZ465 just to get some seat time after the long layoff. The soft cast still isolated the thumb so wasn't much danger. It also made it hard to turn the throttle and have solid grip on handlebar. I'm lucky I tend to heal really quick from surgeries (good genetics & carefully chosen surgeons helps), but I never carelessly push recovery and healing that would endanger full recovery.

I also had both Carpal Tunnels done and Right knee replacement all in 2nd half of 2016. Was healed, pain free and able to ride 10 days after the Right one, but Left took 21 days to get to same point- and still isn't right to this day. Right hand was done by super talented Ortho surgeon (he also successfully rebuilt my R shoulder) but the Left was done by a resident under his supervision.

Cool! Another interwebs Doctor weighs in. You saying my PCP (decades in Sports medicine) + Ortho surgeons and rehab team all lied to me about start and end point of UCL? maybe consult something other than WebMD or Siri?

"The ulnar collateral ligament complex is located on the inside of the elbow (pinky or medial side). It is attached on one side to the humerus (the bone of the upper arm) and on the other side to the ulna (a bone in the forearm). A UCL consists of three bands or divisions: the anterior (front), posterior (back) and transverse (across) bands."
