Title says it all. I've got Kawasaki ( three '05 & '06  KX250's ) and Yamaha ( YZ125 ) 2 stroke motors I need work done on. Bottom ends, new crankshafts, rods, and the Yamaha YZ125 has power valve and carb issues. I used to take all my work to a local guy "Piper Performance" but he no longer works on MX bikes. I do top ends, reeds, and basic tuning, but I need to find an engine guy that can do the lower end work, better carb tuning etc. that does good work.

Also suspension work, servicing Racetech and Enzo would be great. If riders from the North TX area can help me out, I appreciate it.

If OKC isn’t too far you should call Reynard Modifications. Robbie’s date Robert is still doing engines and suspension as he’s had most of his life. He built Robbie’s bikes for most of his career. Top notch, factory level work.

Thanks. A little further than I want to travel. Hoping to find someone in N Texas. I live Northwest of Fort Worth, between Boyd & Springtown and am hoping fellow riders/racers point me to someone in my area. Sucks losing a guy that did great work, was Racetech certified too, and was close by. But thanks again, I'll certainly consider Reynards unless I can find someone closer to me.

Scotty Hanes - Performance Factory MX - 214-399-6128. Former Factory mechanic who does amazing work. His shop is in Kaufman near Underground MX.

Another vote for Scotty Hanes. By far the best option in North Texas. Very knowledgeable and honest.

A bit of a drive for me as I'm NW of Fort Worth, but I've rode Underground a lot in the years so thank you.

Just for N Texans reading this, fyi, I haven't rode for a year & 4 months after snapping my femur at HIS956, so I've been out of the loop for a bit, but want to have 3 of my bikes gone through on motors and fresh suspension. Two of my 2 strokes, and I've got a new 4 stroke I'll need help with when the hours rack up.

I live about 8 miles from River Valley MX, 27 Miles from Oak Hill MX & 25 miles from Masterpool's. Hoping I can find a good guy within an hour or so drive from me. Thanks

Private shop out of Princeton. Specializes in vintage bike restorations and engine rebuilds. All equipment necessary to knock out anything necessary. Feel free to send me a message for more info if interested.

JM Racing in North Houston for 2 smokes. He built my RM250 and RM125 (37hp) and he is really good with suspension.

If this shop in Princeton is in any way affiliated with Curtis Geer I would not trust them. Curtis is known for taking in bikes and stealing/selling them. He got me once and I look forward to the day I see him again somewhere.

Nope. Not familiar with that fella. Good looking out though.

Shop is closer to Mckinney than Princeton.

Honest work done by experienced mechanics for an affordable price.

Dude, this is Texas.

An hour is practically in the neighborhood.

2 hours is a Sunday drive.

Does anyone know if Steve Wagner is still operating out of Royse City?

Scotty Hanes is awesome and worth the drive.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. I need a new guy since the one I've been using no longer works on MX bikes. I'll be contacting Scotty Hanes. 106 miles from me, but sounds like he's trustworthy, and no one closer. I'll have to incorporate a ride at Underground MX while I'm that way!

I’d try calling KTM of North Texas (used to be SLM racing). They work on all bikes, and they’re not too far.

I’ve also heard good things about Galvin Schafer. His shop Evo Industries is in Granbury.
