Sometimes it’s great, it just drives me crazy that it doesn’t fill the whole screen.. why the fuck is there all this empty space around the screen!??
the outdoors one is even worse..

As @blockhead17 showed the tracker is off to the side of the split screen, removing the dead space either side and above and below the split screen would make more difference.
Leave the tracker up, all the time, you can then track riders progress the broadcast isn't showing.
How about no Picture in Picture?
Somebody with more video knowledge than me can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they can make it any bigger without affecting the aspect ratio of the footage.
the image would be super distorted if they tried to stretch it to fill the whole screen/ remove the tracker.
If they stretched it to the sides yes, but then why the gap at the top and bottom..
I just did this in 2 seconds on photoshop, I’m sure someone could do better.. I’m sure the person that was paid to create this could have done better..
top is original, next 2 are ones I mocked up, the aspect ratio has not been changed, I did remove the battle for 3rd text.. it could be done over the image without taking away from it surely.
The slip screens could be bigger, and the banner at the bottom of each split screen doesn't need to be the full split screen width...

Running order could be a quarter of the size than it currently is. Picture in Picture should be way smaller. MotoGP’s layout is the benchmark imho. Information pops out of running order when necessary, everyone wearing video cameras that they can tap into the feed at any point. It’s actually alarming how race focused MotoGP is compared to SMX.
The running order needs the gaps, otherwise you have a rider coming through the field and you have no idea they are gaining on the person in front of them...
Time gaps pop up underneath riders name when they’ve gained in a section, then they highlight the riders name when a pass is made. Also the announcers talk about when a racer gains in a sector throughout the field constantly, even when it’s not a title contender.
