Alot of good points made in this pod. 

Retroactively labeling past SX / MX champions "supermotocross" champions is nonsense. They have one shot to get this thing right and not create some sort of statistical nightmare, maybe chill on trying to merge decades of past results under the SMX umbrella. Its a new addition to the sport, there's no shame in creating a new benchmark for tracking who wins the postseason series. 

Also, unless they are going to revise it in the future and actually eliminate riders from contention in some manner, it should be renamed the "postseason series" and not the "playoffs". 

You're absolutely right about the lack of excitement when championships are won. We have maybe the most subdued, yet hardest to acheive championship in sports. Hundreds of hours are dedicated to talking about who can win a title, yet, when the rider clinches, the moto media don't even bother with full page championship ads or headline grabbing stories. At the track, it's mostly treated as business as usual, save for the quick #1 plate & trophy presentation. Make it feel like it's something worth risking your life for, beyond the nice bonus? Yeah?

I bet. This is where RC's involvement and influence could benefit and he could probably put a stop to it, like, "hey guys, yeah, I never raced supermotocross, so maybe don't claim I'm a 15x SMX champ." He's mentioned he doesn't even really care for the "G.O.A.T" moniker, so why he isn't pushing back against it is a little puzzling.

Fantastic season of PCs guys. Always my go to listen for quiet office days on the other side of the Pacific.
