Interesting question about teams.  The surprise factor that Kitchen appreciated was that Mitch gave him the freedom to train and go where he wanted and it worked instead of cracking the whip with laps at the practice track.  The sport is evolving to custom programs where on the other hand Honda has the Lawrence family more involved with all 3 brothers engaged and dad pitching in with bike setup etc. and Blue with extra riders to train with and a facility to support it.  KTM upped their game too with more than just the track.

My first concern is rider safety getting to them not with the “jump back on the bike” mentality to rush and salvage points like Ricky urges but to make sure they are stable first.  And if they are a little tipsy to figure out a plan to not endanger other riders.  Going “bowling for bikes” isn’t cool no matter what the test says afterward and if they suspect any spine injury I think the medics could be more careful just in case since they already weren’t careful enough a few times. If someone needs a collar I say spine board them too precautionary.

I think it’s fair to add a “riding to endanger section” if not already in the rule book that get’s you an automatic black flag if you don’t at least look before trying to reenter the track.  It’s the first thing they fail people for if they are going for their car driver’s license to not check your mirrors and look over your shoulder or stay looking back as you back the car up so why should not looking out for others riders be ok in a sport where you aren’t wrapped in a big cushioned car?
