I'm looking to get some things for my YZ to make it more suited for woods/GNCC style of riding. What are some must need mods? It's completely stock at the moment besides suspension. Figured I would need to get a flywheel, some rad braces, some good handguards. What else?

This was my woods bike 2012, i had IMS oversize tank, GYTR flywheel, Cycra handguards. Thats all you need, The flywheel makes all the difference.

I would do everything mentioned above as well as a skidplate.

I just saw that CYCRA released a new full coverage skid plate for the YZ250. Super trick. I ran a TM designs skidplate on my 09 and it was super durable, then again everything TM designs offers is top notch. I would recommend the IMS ZipTY edition oversized tank because it is alittle slimmer than the OG IMS tank. Selling my YZ was one of the biggest mistakes Ive made in life...

To compound on above me, 250x governor spring and washers, cylinder head and cdi. They all work much better together. Anything over the gytr fww kills the power too much for me (200lb A woods rider). Ims tank, Bulletproof designs rad guards, tm skid plate and chain guide. Also highly recommend the jd jet kit and a gnarly pipe.

Gonna disagree on the gnarly pipe. Kills anything remotely close to top end power.

Does the X head require race gas like the standard YZ250 head is known for?

No. The x head is lower compression so it boosts top end and allows the bike to run on shittier gas (for lack of a better term). I have a 16 250x and an 02 yz that I converted.
