Would be nice if they didn't use 2000 yz plastics for the mudguards and side panels.
Its kind of like having a Ferrari engine and chassis, with a Chrysler Neon body...

Any why does anyone need 80hp on a dirt bike? when some of you guys complain when people put a pipe on a 250F making 34hp....saying that you cant use that power anyway?

Gorgeous. I'd take the 80hp anyday. Hey if you don't need it don't open it up. If you do, it's always there. That's why they put a throttle on it.

Now only if they could wrap that beautiful motor in a modern aluminum frame chassis with updated plastics (instead of 1998 YZ plastic), they would have something.

If your 500 spooges, you're not doing it right.

i rode maicos from 1978-1995.

ATK has had them for a couple years and even tried racing Supermoto with the 700.

Have to agree.

. Feels like time travel back to late nineties? Looks like a YZ from 97-01?

Yeah but the disk is on the wrong side too. My YZ250's pipe is right above the disk too, it's just they are both on the right side instead of the left.

Explaining the Maico legacy to someone who wasn't around in the heyday of the Team Maico bus, Ake Jonsson, Adolph Weil, Willi Bauer, Gerrit Wolsink, Graham Noyce, etc and the glorious Wheelsmith days is like explaining the punch line to a joke to someone.

To some Maico was Maico Breako but to those of us who knew how to set them up and maintain them all the other bikes weren't good enough for us. Maicos were THE best handling bikes there were end of story.

Cracks me up to read these comments about the discs on the wrong side, the pipes on the wrong side, who freakin' cares? It is a 500cc Maico motor in an updated frame, badass forks, single shock with the kickstarter where it should be on the left side.

On a real man's bike Grinning you had to stand off to the side and kick it with your right foot to use all of your leverage....refusing to do so was an invitation to break your left ankle.

You guys better all run home to your mommas cause when BobbyM learns y'all have been disrespecting the famous Maico legacy there's going to be hell to pay!
