So I'm a high school teacher.....

My calculus students, 11th and 12th graders, have been working on an optimization project for several weeks. They have been given products that they have to package, case, and palletize as efficiently as possible. It takes the broad content of derivatives and focuses it on one area of reality. They have been working during class this week on their projects and we got to talking about Supercross coming up this weekend. 3 of them are going so the rest of the class was inquiring about what Supercross was.

Because they were working on their projects, I flipped on the projector and started bringing up moto videos. They wanted to see crashes so we watched some crash videos from last year's supercross.

Then I thought to show Trey's goon video. They loved that. I told them, "It takes a lot of skill to ride that bad..." One of the young men said he has been taking motorcycle safety classes and that he could barely get rolling with the clutch.... funny.

Then I thought, "Oh, you guys will love Ronnie Mac..."

I pulled up this video and had music playing over Pandora in the background. I have a nice 300 watt sound system in the classroom that I brought from home after I got married. The students were really into it. They kept thinking he was going to crash when he boner aired or hung off the back. The kids wanted to hear what he was saying. When I finally paused Pandora and un-muted the Ronnie Mac video at 3:00 in....

the only thing they heard was Ronnie, "Are you excited? ..... I'll whip my **** out to show you how excited I am."

shit

I know the end of the story wasn't the way you had hoped it would go, but I don't think you realize how many students you probably touched (metaphorically speaking). Good for you.
About 25+ years ago when I was in high school, I had a Cycle News magazine with me one day in English class (I HATED English class). Anyways, my teacher saw that and we broke into a conversation about how he used to flat track race back in his glory days. Surprisingly, he also told of how he use to write articles for Cycle News for many years. Every Monday morning after that conversation, he would always hit me up and ask me my racing results for the weekend. To this day we are still friends.

Hope you got some tenure, bro.
Worse things have happened to teachers in the district. Some of the stories I've heard are crazy.

I think I have a few students with your same screen name....

I think you have written about this on here before? I've heard that story before. I hope to have that relationship with a student or students some day.

I bet. I don't know how any teachers do what they do. I'd rather smash my balls with a deadblow hammer for 8 hours than deal with anything that even resembles a millennial.

but hey, you teach math. Ask them how much a gram is.

If they answer "shit, depends on what you want." or "around 10 bucks"

I wish I would have had a teacher cool enough to watch moto in the classroom with back in the day. The only moto we ever got to watch when I was in school was when I brought this commercial in to class one time for show and tell... Nobody and I mean absolutely not even one person understood what he was doing with the (bogging 2 stroke noise). It was a failed attempt to show my classmates some humor!

I just talked to a group about grams to points. I told them, off the top of my head, that there were 454 grams in a pound. They were amazed that I knew that. And I only know that from weighing mountain bike parts as a kid trying to save weight!

Back on topic.... There is one group of girls who always seem to be talking about strange things when I walk by. Once it was bra size, once it was about female products, and today all I heard was, "My aunt had terrible diarrhea..."

Those landings he has where he wheelies away from the landing are insane. . . The stuff these guys do just jacking around prove how amazing they are at their real jobs.
