Guts racing lightweight seat foam

Edited Date/Time 5/14/2015 4:19pm
Anyone tried the Guts racing lightweight seat foam? How much weight did you save? Does the foam feel close to stock? I tried the Think Technologies seat foam.. amazingly light but way too firm for my butt. Looking for an alternative.

The guts seats are what your looking for, people that sit on my bike say it feels like a couch. I let a kid use one of my seats a month ago and he liked it a lot n got one. They have a little more feel to them since they are a tad lower then stock and that's the biggest reason I like it.

I have one on my YZ450 and love it. It is a lot lighter than stock but it is pretty firm compared to the stock foam.

they made me a tall version of the phantom foam for my new RMZ, they were running an offer at the time that included a cover, so the foam and cover cost only a small amount more than the regular foam and cover.

I buy a tall foam from them for every bike I own, so the weight savings were not the motivation, but I get them when I can take them.

going from an OEM Suzuki seat to their tall foam and cover saved more than 0.5lbs, which is cool since the regular taller foams are usually heavier than stock.

I really like it, its nice and firm so its really helps to grip the bike with your knees if you are tall.

great people, great product, great customer service! 5 stars! *****

I've been running their Lightweight Seat foam and "VS" Velcro-System exclusively on Everything I ride for a year, now.

The sets feel like a fresh stock seat and I have the "indentations" where peole usually put pleats or bumps. This makes the seat just a little bit lower...which is REALLY, REALLY NICE for me.

The seat in the KTM picture is one of the early light-foam Seats with over 50 hours in it!
The Husky is a seat with 12 days in Baja & Beach Riding on it (Baja Bonanza, Rip to Cabo).

Thanks guys, I was talking about their Phantom seat foam, not their regular foam. I was wondering if it is the exact same foam material that Think Technologies uses or perhaps a different foam material that is a little bit softer?

I lost a pound with the Think foam on my CRF450 which was great, but made me feel like I am sitting high on top of the bike in corners and rougher on my old tush.

The Guts "light" seatfoams have been about 1/2-3/4 pounds lighter and over 1 pound lighter with their Carbonfiber seat base.

The Guts foam feels normal and you can get softer or firmer, too.

I thought that just Think Technologies had the CF seat bases. I didn't know that Guts made carbon fiber seat bases, too?

Thanks, it looks better trimmed up. Just placed my order for a tall foam and new seat cover from Guts. I'm 6'3" so I'm hoping this opens up the cockpit and actually gives my knees something to grab while standing.

yes, I agree it looks better and yes, the effect you are looking for is exactly what this mod does very well.

Just fyi,, the seat foam weights for the CRF450 are as follows;

Stock dry foam; 630 grams

Guts Racing Phantom foam; 240 grams

Think Technology foam: 95 grams

When I weighed the stock foam.. a bike with only 25 hours on it and never seen mud or water except a wash after every ride, was water logged at about 2000 grams!!! One pound = 454 grams. That is an argument for closed cell foam technology right there.
