After breaking my fibula back in January, I decided to tear down the YZ and give it a good inspection. I left the front end and transmission alone as both had recently been gone through. I concentrated on the swing arm and linkage, and the top end.
First I removed the cylinder and head and sent them to Slipdog. He did a beautiful job on the porting and head mod. He kept in touch with me every step of the way.
I highly recommend Slipdog. He's easy-going and really is interested in taking care of his customer.
Like I said, I also went through the rear linkage. Turned out it didn't really need anything. I greased it about a year and a half ago, and it was still holding up well.
I decided to go ahead and repack the silencer while I had it apart.
I asked Slip to give me a little extra treat on my cylinder. He was gracious enough to comply.
I put her all back together and she started on the third kick.

So much fun rebuilding bikes, I love it!
The Shop
@seth, all ports were raised except the rear boost to produce a wider o/a powerband and the head has the squish significantly reduced with the dome reshaped to raise compression, but work with the porting to give strong/smooth pull.
Hows the leg you healed up?
Jleews, hopefully I'll get some laps in tomorrow. A ride report is guaranteed!
I was hoping for some smokey burnouts....
Slip, you did a great job! Bottom seems a bit more punchy, but where this thing really shines is mid and up. It's almost violent at times. I love it! I really just broke it in today, and then the rain came so I didn't have time to really feel it out like I wanted to.
Overall, so far, very impressed with the Slipdog porting and head mod. I can't to get back out this weekend and really get to know how she's going to perform.
Pit Row
I refreshed my 250 also.
Gapped and reinstalled sparkplug.
Good for another year.
Headed to hangtown for the weekend!
More aggressive head designs made the "hit" enough to have people want to tame it down and port changes aimed at the lower half of the rpm range made it a short shifter that didn't rev as well. Unless someone asks for a stump puller, I find most people like this power spread the best. I've had a few that bought FFW's ahead of time and decided they didn't need it after the motor was done.
(Sorry for the crappy cell photo)
Cam, thanks broseph! I was broing down big time at the track with it. My flat bill kinda curled though in the humidity.
Had a chance to really wring it out yesterday. It is fast. I gained power every where, but the midrange really shines.
