I've owned three different Yamaha racers, so I obviously like them to some degree, but I just think most of them are kinda ugly lookin. All the 4-strokes pre '06 are dog ugly, and most of the 90's and 2000's are just kinda cheap lookin. To me, that is.

I don't think they were any better? I've never heard anything along those lines. I remember Stewie and J Hill having to run pretty weird setups to get them to work. They were definitely fast on them, it just took some tweaking.

Maybe it's because I was just beginning to race back in 78, but those late 70's works bikes are the trickest by far to me. I ride a blue Yamaha now, but the yellow was way cooler.

06-09 were really clean looking bikes. Yamaha sure messed up the styling when they switched to the backwards engine...

Im glad i held on to my 74 yz125m and my 77 cr125m. Almost scrapped them both. Beautiful bikes. Been with me for 29 years now. Seeing these pics, they will be with me for another 29

Some Yamaha's were the very best in certain years and in some years they were the very shittiest. That always struck me as very odd.

So weird that Chad rode a 250f in the 125 class then rode a 250 2 stroke when he moved up to the premier class. Ive never seen someone besides him go from racing a 4 stroke back to 2 stroke back to 4 stroke.

The 2 strokes at the time were still better than the 4 strokes especially when it came to supercross. I think a lot of the riders tested both bikes but felt the 250 was still the better option.

I do know that I prefer that era of racing.

Loved the Rinaldi Chesterfield Yamahas of the early 90s,the white looked so cool,I was lucky to see them race many times in person.
Long shot but anyone know what happened to these bikes?

One day I want to own an ex factory bike,these Chesterfield Yamahas are top of my list for sure

Ron Lechien's 224 is by far the coolest looking one. That thing is a work of art. Didn't it have a rotary engine.
