Just wondering if anyones got any old photos or comments on The Rollerball, former Canadian national champ. I heard he was a pretty fierce competitor in the states during the '80,s. Have'nt heard much about him lately. I remember MXA voted him the hardest rider to pass back in '87. The best there is, was, and ever will be in Canada

I always pulled for him...he was the underdog on those basically stock RM's here in the U.S. when most of his competitors were on (pre-production rule) full on factory bikes! if you count up all the titles he won in Canada no one else comes close on the win list which is impessive and often ignored.

He knocked me into the cheap seats at a SX in Canada in 83. He does some kind of real estate stuff now from what I heard.

Photos are strangely hard to find of Rollerball.

The guy has, I believe 52 Canadian Pro Championships including 3 years where he won all 3 pro class titles. They used to have all 3 classes at every National and Pederson won them all! That's 6, 40 minute+ 2 lap motos per race day!! Some days he would win them all.

Funny story: I was pulling into a Canadian Tire parking lot once in about 1980 and here is a factory Suzuki box van parked there and two guys working on the front end. I stopped and sure as shit it was Rollerball and some other guy trying unsuccessfully to change the headlight in the truck. I jumped out of my truck, grabbed my tools and changed it for them. We started talking and they asked me where a good place to practice was locally. I drew them a map to a local riding area where we had a decent track laid out. The next day, it was the Friday before the National my friends and I go to the track and here are the Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha factory teams all set up and the riders all pounding out laps on our little track! Man we were stoked!!! We rode around half the day being amazed how fast these guys would pass us lol.

A few years ago when Speed channel first started airing the Canadian nationals, Ross was the color commentator.

i've worked the AMA National Arenacross Series off and on for a number of years. back around 92 or so, Ross Pederson was training in Florida and wanted to ride some Arenacross. i was driving to several events so i hauled his bikes to the California and Colorado events. this picture is from the Cow Palace. it was taken before an altercation on the track between Ross and another rider. after the "incident", Ross had a Security Guard close by the rest of the evening. he always lived up to his "Rollerball" nickname on the track. this picture gives you an idea of his off track attitude. nice guy. dirtbikemike

I met him in the 80's. He is truely a living dirtbike legend. I have in my possesion a jersey he wore for racing in 1981.
Here are his accomplishments of that year.
1981 ---500 Ross Pederson Medicine Hat, AB
---250 Ross Pederson Medicine Hat, AB
If you want to see the picts of that jersey , here is a link I put on photobucket of my Ross Pederson 1981 jersey.:

Welcome to Vital MX.

Its unfortunate that for your first post you dug up a 3 year old thread! How many pages did you have to go back to find it? lol

Ha Ross was a great guy and even greater racer, he represented Canada well. I like to think of him as the Rex Staten of the 80's, he would move you off the track if you were in his way.

I remember being 17 and seeing Pat Alexander and Ross coming out of a restaurant up in Sacramento, it was the weekend of the Hangtown National, I recognized Ross (Pat too) he didn't know myself or my friends, but we asked him to go buy us booze at the liquor store a couple doors down from the restaurant, he was so cool and said yes hahahahah we were juvenile delinquents but he was cool for doing that for us, most people wouldn't !

He is not know for his wise decisions...maybe a hero and the track but those in Canada will tell you a different story of the Ross post racing years....and your story sums up his decision making process. I dont find it cool at all he bought you booze, I find it disgusting.

I didn't ask for your opinion. And judging from most of your posts, you need to ease up in life, dying bitter isn't a good thing.
