We got a call this morning that someone very interesting would be testing on a Honda at Pala Raceway today, and sure enough, in addition to a Spy ride day that had most of Pala's National track linked together for the first time in a few months, we found the GEICO Honda crew parked way on top of one of the hills. The featured rider? Christophe Pourcel, aboard one of their 450cc bikes.
From what we've been told, Christophe likes the Honda, and he was trying the team's bike for the first time that day. And nope, no agreement has been reached on a contract. This was more like a, "Hey, nice to meet you. Here, try our bike," kind of test. While we were there, he had put in a couple short motos, and was busy dialing in things like bars and controls. Oh...and some Fox Racing gear as well.
While we couldn't help but think that it was just a little ironic that they were pitted less than 100 yards where Christophe crashed during last year's season finale, injuring his shoulder and likely costing him a 250cc title, it was great to see him back on a bike looking to get back on a racetrack.
Yep, the Nationals just got a little more interesting...
