Yes found one mate. I've got deionized water, but once I've mixed my potion with it and then used it, the lid goes on the bucket till next time. Its got a thermostat so I can leave it on, and its only about 5 litres so it won't take long to hit at least 20°. Need a bit of copper pipe to hang my parts from. I was looking at a metal strainer, like a fine mesh bowl, something used in cooking, as a way to dip parts, plate them and then clean them without messing about with each one.

its a strip down then buddy, you sound like you have more than enough knowledge to strip it, once you let the gas out, its not dangerous to work on, id imagine its the same as a modern shock strip ie empty bladder of gas, remove the shock cap around the rod, under that there is the seal head, press that down till you see the clip, remove with a pick, then pull it out for inspecting, at least you will know if the band is good on the piston and the inner body isn't trashed and you wasting time and money,

I've just messaged Brooks to see if they can rip it apart and give it the once over. They can also replace the hose if they can.

Unfortunately Brooks can't do it but been chatting to the guys from Preston and they said they can do the shock and the forks.  Got a full list of prices if you want them.

I offered to do the shock months ago as it's something I've done before. Swapping the hose out isn't hard and I suggested doing the other work while it was apart, yet you were obsessed with the idea that it just needed regassing and the hose replacing without rebuilding it.

Paul at ONSENGINEERING2017 has just finished making a perfect copy of my swing arm pivot bolt in high tensile stainless steel. It speaks for itself really. Very nice work.

The front forks will be sent away next week to be re-chromed, stripped and rebuilt with my NOS lower outers. I'll be sending them along with my rear shock absorber that's being stripped, re-plated, serviced, rebuilt etc etc.

Got a heater coming and found 10x 5ltr white buckets on Amazon for £20. Found a slim, shallow rectangular tub for doing the axles. Got the pivot bolt done and the suspension sorted for next week. I'll also get the frames blasted and painted next week.

It should start to look like a bike shortly lol. 😎

Hi Phil, when you've got time could you give us a picture and maybe some specs for your rear silencer? I think there's some rear baffles for a 465 on Ebay, and if I get the dimensions I may be able to have one fabricated.

Cheers

Been going through the engine bearing list only the bearing for the right side, part number 09264-20002 is rather illusive. Its basically the last bearing to replace now. I've stuck it on Ebay and CMS watch so when or if one shows up I'll grab it. If not I'll have to find something else that fits.

Yes, its buried right now, but will do.

Puzzled as to what 'baffles' they are, its a non rebuildable unit.

Cheers, there's no rush, it's the last thing on my list. I'm sure it's for the silencer although I could be wrong,  never had one of these things apart.

Thats not off a 465/500 .

Way too short, and that looks like a part from a rebuildable one, mine is a solid welded unit.

According to CMS it fits 44 models including the ones they say. There must be another schematic for the fabrication of the exhaust.

is it not one of them off road sound things, think its called the clean out tube?? it connects to the muffler pipe? i could be way wrong, but a lot of years ago, way to many to remember, i helped a guy with a rmx 250 tail pipe, and that had one in, think i was repacking it and sure he said it was to make the enduro sound more like a off road bike,

Yes a clean out tube is what was coming up when I Googled it. There's a guy in either OZ or NZ who makes exhaust systems, they're made to order and he makes one for the 465. The tail pipe is round as it should be and I think it's in stainless steel. They're not exactly cheap either. This silencer is probably going to be last thing I find for this bike unless I find a used one. Now there is a used one on the German only version of Ebay.

the one philG has sounds like the oem part number 14330-14270 which is the stock x one on the parts finch, ie the welded, type do you not have a muffler at all buddy? if not there is no point buying that part above, i just took a quick look and that is for oem part number 14303-14230-h01, which is for the off road pipe, ie it was sold as a addon extra, and id imagine there even rarer than rare,

Hi mate, yes Phil has a genuine factory NOS tailpipe you see on the schematic. I think it came with the bike. Rocking horse shit.

That is the 'shorty' replacement , which everyone fitted, but the long silencer makes the bike much nicer to ride.

I've done a bit more work on the swing arm today. My new pivot bolt arrived this morning and looks very nice. The castle nut was originally silver or zink plated but they've replaced it with a black one. I'll be getting a shiny new zink one next week.

Well the forks are being boxed up today ready for collection tomorrow,  lower outers in a separate box and the rear shock early next week. Want to zink plate the upper spring adjuster this weekend before I send it off.

The new tyres are off to the bike shop shortly to be fitted to the freshly rebuilt wheels. I can then fit the new OEM Suzuki rear sprocket once they come back.

I have found that Pirelli's dont mark walls as badly as Dunlops, and the hard pack Michelins leave less of a dent in carpets.

I have to do rear wheel bearings on mine, and respoke the wheel, as i was looking at it the other day and its laced wrong.

That's going to be a pain in the arse.  My P-zero's for the 911 leave marks on the floor or anything they touch. Just ordered some more PJ1 satin black and the price has gone through the roof. The cheapest I've found was £24 + £5 postage. On Ebay its £29 per can. I've been doing a bit too much over the last week, housework, organising tools, parts, shit loads of stuff. I'm paying for it now. My body lost about 4 stone in weight from 11 stone down to 6st 9 when I was ill, but now when I put a bit back on and then start doing stuff, it falls off again, so I have to be careful how much I do. I get to 8 stone and then it drops back again. It's driving me fkn crazy. I could curl 60k years ago, I'm knackered moving 10k about.

At least i can put this rear sprocket on shortly and have this stuff zink plated this weekend. It's mostly the rear adjusters, spacers etc being done for this swing arm. Just waiting for a few buckets to arrive to put this solution in. I'll do a few pics while I'm doing it.

pj1 isn't cheap over here buddy, the uk retail price is £21.60 this year, its £14.95 trade, some sellers are over inflating the prices still, but as they say "cheap aint good and good aint cheap", its good stuff, just make sure its in date on the tin, and i feel for you health wise, it must be horrible pal, go slow to go fast and you will get there

I noticed the yellow and black can of PJ1, is there any difference between the two? I won't use anything else, the finish is really good.  Well the forks and both wheels have left the building,  should get the wheels back either today or tomorrow.  Need to find a couple of boxes for the lowers and the shock so I can get those sent off. Frames are next, I think they collect and deliver them depending on size of the order. Its over 20 miles away and I've 3 frames, a stand, the old shock spring and the two sets of pivots. The frame is being enamelled.

I got my 5 x 5ltr white buckets today so I may give the zink plating a go tomorrow.  For the cross bar over the electrolyte I may use a small plastic tube, although ive got some copper pipe.. I'll cut a wedge out each side so it can wedge inside the bucket and rest on top. I'll wrap the part wire around it and suspend the parts into the solution. Once done I'll lift out the tube with the part and wire still attached and place it in the clean water rinse bucket. I can also use it with the pre-cleaning pickle solution bucket.
