So much untapped TV expertise here.
You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to know that a sledge hammer probably isn’t the right tool for a lobotomy.
How many passes did RC call that never happened?
i hate to dissapoint but man i can't take it anymore. i don't think i've missed a supercross ins 25 years and its gettin to the point i just won't care about it much. thank god nationals are coming
just once...i would love to see them put JUST weege in booth with a ground reporter (JT) watch the difference it makes. weege can handle it and with these others they cram in with him is holding him back and hurting the actual broadcast
The Shop
Irony - GuyB and a sledgehammer reference.
if only they were as skilled at it as you are at misanthropic sarcasm.
mfw RC called MXGP "european motocross"
RC, JS and MXA all made that same comment.
I could see how it would keep a rider from being able to grip the bike but those final few rear end kicks were pretty violent.
At least as many as the ones that did that he didn't call.
Compartmentalization. I really don't even pay attention to what is being said...just focused on the racing. However, I do usually hear 'inside-outside' a few times during the broadcast. Or 'this is a good learning opportunity'. But that is about it.
Remember, no matter what we think...the broadcast will be aimed at the first-time viewer who knows nothing about the sport. Why they always do this is puzzling but it is what they will do every time...guaranteed.
And we also know they think interviews or hearing what a woman commenter thinks are much more important than the racing.
Thanks.
Oops, I did it again.
No one here is claiming to be a television producer or director, or even that they slept at a Holiday Inn last night.
if you read the entire thread, most of the issues that viewers have with the show sound similar.
Sure there are some people who complain about everything, but there are underlying facts to support what most people here are saying.
I don’t think there is a debate that the quality of these live shows could be better.
I don't understand why you idiots get bothered by the broadcast team so much. It doesn't ever matter who it is. There's just constant bitching from YOU PEOPLE! I find humor in these threads, so I guess I'm happier than YOU PEOPLE! I'm just glad to watch the races live instead of 2 weeks later like it used to be. Go get some Prozac or some kind of happy pills.
Welcome to 2024 where acceptance of mediocrity is the norm.....
Good to see you stirring up the natives GB...
How d you know what people on here do for a living? Your comment assumes that no one here could possibly know anything about broadcasting, the media etc. This is erroneous.
Guy B’s comments shed some light on why the broadcast sucks. It’s a pro mx/sx circle jerk. Us peasants don’t know anything right? I don’t do paving for a living but I know a shitty road when I’m on one. Keep dumbing down the broadcast and there will only be dummies left to watch the BS.
Pit Row
Go back to your hiatus. Your replacement is way better champ.
It’s his MO, you just couldn’t point it out in the past as he would ban you or delete the post.
I think it's ok for the most part, but I can't take Will. Her voice is annoying and she rarely has anything meaningful say.
Agreed....only change I would make is "only dummies who don't buy bikes will be left to watch the BS".
It's already headed the way of Monster trucks.
Keep alienating your core fans and see how that goes.
Can we please get rid of the British chick!? Do the GPs have an American sideline reporter? Nope. Nothing against the British, but damn she's annoying, I have to mute her.
I feel bad her. She really catches a lot of shit here but damn she is not good.
The broadcast doesn’t do her any favors. She doesn’t need to be track side. Her fluff pieces need to be done in a quiet area. Not next to the track with bikes going by. Her accent is so strong and she blurts it all out in such a rush she is hard to understand.
It’s the broadcasts fault for making her pieces terribly timed but they insist on doing it as scheduled regardless of battles, crashes, or passes.
her information is perfect for the endless time between heats and races but they insist on doing things during the races, the broadcast is a misguided retarded woke mess.
they do everything but show the races and talk about the races during the races. Same for qualifying, they do everything besides show a fast lap or talk about what’s on screen.
absolute abomination.
"That's exactly right Dboivin and to your point...O wait, watch this he's gonna get him right here. Nope, he wasn't close enough..."
MXGP has the formula. Great coverage, Malin (accomplished GP Racer turned broadcaster) , sometimes JT, and the rider tracker at the bottom of the screen. Good camera angles, catch most of the action, simple yet effective. Annoucer(s) talking not yelling and overall good production. They know their audience is 98% hardcore and call/produce it that way. Our coverage is abhorent. It should be Weedge on the call, JT and/or Blair on color and JT and/or Adam C on the floor. Just one on floor as you don't need 12 human interest pit reports during a 20 min final. No new fans are checking in. And if they do they can figure it out just like we all did at one time.
You just don't understand. You must have a woman commenting about nonsense 'during the race' of a man's sport. It is required these days.
Exactly that!
With you there, why do they feel like they have to fill every second blabbering?
