Boom was looking at bringing a kid over stateside from South Africa. The kid shot himself and, is no longer with us.

Edited: 9:50 pm. After speaking directly to Boomslang, it was the kids father.

Not commenting on this current event but I do often think about Boom getting the fuck over here and away from there.
I know you have mechanical aptitude and experience. I have no idea how to transfer those skills into a job and permanent status here but my old company Textron (Cessna and Beechcraft) are hiring like crazy. You don't need an A&P to work the factory or pre-delivery. I think they start around $25 and top out about $50. Not earth shattering but there's also all the OT you want or can stomach.
There HAS to be a way.

It’s currently 3:25 am in SA. I’m going to wait a few hours and, give Boomslang a call to check in on him.
He left me a short voice message at 10:30 PST pretty broken up.
From what I understood and, I’ll clarify the finer details for certain after speaking with him, he was planning on bringing the kid over to race.
The dad of the child was the one helping get everything organized. He called Boomslang and, let him know the kid took his life. That’s what I got out of it. Like I said, Boom was pretty broken up and, it was very difficult to understand. Once again, I’ll clarify what’s going on after speaking with him.
Alright, well... I finally spoke to Boom. Turns out it was the father of the kid that shot himself.
The kid was a racer in SA that Boom was trying to get over here. He saw talent in the young man..
Sadly, I know how much this is going to affect the kid as my grandfather committed suicide in 2011. It’s the worst feeling ever. Prayers to the family.
To you guys, I’m sorry the info I passed along for Boomslang was inaccurate. His message was pretty unintelligible as he was pretty hurt/distraught by the news received..
He mentioned he’ll chime in when he’s up to it.

This is really a shit deal and I can't imagine what the poor kid is going through now. I will be giving it some time for him to process the situation before reaching out to him.
I cannot understand why but this is a great family that appeared to have a damn close to ideal life. The dad was a Neuro surgeon and the kid had a dream of giving the outdoors a crack.
Not sure how things will play out but at this moment I can only say that it ain't gonna be easy for the family to move on.
