If the Stark is already the same weight as a wet 250F, and let's assume it can do a 35 minute moto at full throttle at a place like Southwick, how good will that bike be if they utilized solid state batteries? I know they are a few years off, but you can halve the weight and get the same amount of power. And it charges in 10-15 minutes. For me, it seems like this would be the tipping point. You could make a solid state battery that is 75 percent the weight of the current Stark, you'd get almost an hour at full throttle, you'd have the lightest bike in the class, and you could easily recharge between motos. With that battery, you could turn the power down, and easily go on a 3-4 hour trail ride.

I just know a lot of people won't switch to electric if the bike is comparable to an ICE bike. But if you can get a ton of power on a bike that weighs less than a 250F, and it runs for a long time, you won't really have a choice.

I think your estimate of “a few years off” may be a bit optimistic. Either way liquid and solid battery architectures are evolving and weight will decrease over the years.

Battery tech is only going to get better. The fact that the Stark is as good as it is already is telling. It's a bad sign for the ICE engine. Get the dino burners while you can, because I see them fading away quickly.
