Which generator do you all plan on using until more tracks get plug ins for charging?
I currently have the Predator 3500W Super Quiet which I use at the track for RVing, but it only produces max 25A @ 110 V.
I plan on buying the Predator 9500W Super Quiet which has a 30A 220V. The non-quiet generators are going to really frustrate people in the pits if we start having tons of them running charging our Vargs...
Has anyone talked to their local track about installing NEMA 14/50 outlets? This is the common outlet in the US for welders, RV's, etc and it's the outlet that Teslas use to charge. I plan on talking to my local track about installing a couple of them, even if I have to donate a little money to help it get installed.

Should get interesting tbh. It will be an obscene amount of power draw, electric is not cheap in the moto hotbeds. Generator might be all you can do. If it was me and I had to do the genny I would just see what the maximum allowable charge rate is on your battery and get a unit that can get close. I don't know if the charge rate is a thing, just an idea of how I would approach it to minimize downtime.
Moral of the story, I don't recommend a generator rated at less than a 5000watt continuous output.

It is quiet, does 240V 30A and will charge your phone. A little pricey.
It does look like the Stark is going to use the 3300W charger like used on the Alta's. The is 16-20 Amps at 240V This generator should run that. It has a 240V 30A plug

I'm leery about 'off brand' generators. Even though I have one myself (King, I think made by Lifan), that is rumbling away outside my window as I type this due to an overnight storm. An exception maybe for Champion. They make 240v inverters you can buy in the US that you can't get up here. Yet. Look for a 240v open frame (open frames are cheaper).
You don't want the cheap and noisy generators. We, all electric bikes, will be harassed at the track. Be courteous, and get a quiet generator. On a positive note, Hollister Hills State Vehicle Recreation Area is looking into putting power stations around the park. A friend, Frank Vest, has put the bug in there ear about the up and coming Stark release. Frank has an electric KX80 conversion.
I have a 4500 watt Westinghouse that is identical to the rebranded Cummins/onan which costs more because of the name on the sticker. They are quiet, but not as quiet as the predators from harbor freight. I mainly use the 7500 watt diesel generator in my motorhome on race weekends, with the portable gas for backup. You can save a couple hundred on eBay buying refurbished direct from Westinghouse.
Get a quiet one and aim it away from your neighbors so we don't all look like bungholes with our electric dildo bikes.
The A-iPower GXS7100iRD 7100W is $300 off at Costco through today, so only $1,000. I ended up ordering one today. I'll make a report once I receive it and test the Varg charging. It is dual fuel, so it can serve a backup home power supply as well.

I was going to buy the Predator 9500w but I can buy two of these for that price.
I've been running the A-iPower GXS7100iRD (from Costco) to charge the Stark. It runs full 10A at 220V charge. Generator says it's pulling 3.2kW and it's rated for 4.7kW continuous. So it would also charge two Starks at 7.5A each. Or charge a Stark and also run a mini-split, etc.
Only downside it's heavy/bulky enough to not a single person load into a pickup. We leave in in the pickup and slide it to the rear without unloading it. Stark charging cable is long enough to put bike on stand and reach generator in truck. Been working great, now to get solar on the cargo trailer so no noise...
2256 MW might be overkill!
Unfortunately it is Permanently shutdown.
Diablo Canyon is still operating.
My friend's sister lives in Avila Beach, California. It's still up and running.
Sorry, my bad The Boobies at San Onofre are larger but permanently shutdown, it looks like the boobies at Diablo canyon are a little smaller but Active. I'd rather have any active boobies...
I ordered this Maxpeedingrods generator from amazon. It was $1k. 86lbs and max db of 68
One thing to consider is the THD of the generator you are buying. If its not an inverter style generator STAY AWAY FROM IT. Non inverter type have horrible THD and they are loud asf.
I have a WEN 4750w gen that was only $450, but it is so damn loud and the THD is horrible. It is incredibly annoying to be anywhere near it.
Spend the money and at least get one of the offbrand inverter generators that has decent reviews.
Is this image from somewhere between Oceanside and San Clemente?
Not that it matters, but have been driving there many times while on vacation
North of Vandenberg, what could possibly go wrong!

If you happen to have a car with V2L (vehicle-to-load) feature, you should be able to charge the Varg during a 40min brake or similar. I'm not sure, not too many has this feature yet. No Teslas I think.
Are you still happy with the MaXpeedingrods 5500W generator?
I just got my notification for production email from Stark and need a generator.
Also, any idea if there's a way to make these generators even quieter with sound insulation? It seems like some could be added to the inside of the side panels.
I don't have any complaints. When fast charging the varg the generator gets a little louder because of the load, but not terrible. Im pretty pleased with it for what it cost. I've tossed around the idea of building a box with sound deadening material....but the generator has a Co2 monitor on it, so you cant exactly close it in or it'll shut off.
Also, The fast charge is no joke. By the time you rest in between motos it charges more than enough, so you'll never actually be waiting because the battery is low...unless you have some incredible fitness and/or are fast as hell and use up a ton of battery during your motos
any e-bike owners started using a battery based generator. Like this waterproof 5000w portable battery power station, wterproof power station (szlutex.com)
If you have a truck like the Ford E150 Lightning with the right options, you can charge the e-bike using the battery built into the truck.
My friend Phillip is buying a new Class B, Van conversion. It is about 5KW to reload an Alta or a Stark. The new van comes with the new style generator. 2.7KW of lithium batteries and an optional 6KW system, a 3000w Inverter on board, a solar panel and a second 170A alternator on the gas motor up front with an Autostart if the battery's get low. 6KW should give enough to recharge the Alta ,(Stark), and the van will recharge just off an idle. So to answer your question, the 5000W of battery should give you 1 Recharge if you can get all 5000watts out of the Battery.
