I run The Moto Academy Social Media Accounts. We got a chance to demo the Varg a few weeks ago and shot some great content. Ive been slowly rolling it out over the past few weeks and the comments have had me absolutely rolling. Wave after wave of dudes with Truck selfie profile pics announcing their departure from following our accounts.
Was curious if anyone on here had actually met any real aggression or confrontation in the real world?
I don't think that qualifies as real world but check out any Stark Varg related thread in "moto-related"
Or just any YouTube comments section (could apply to almost anything on YouTube to be honest).
For sure the emotions run really high, some people do not understand that any bike made in this world does not have to fit their own personal requirements, but above all the most vocal crowd seem terrified that electrics, silent dirt bikes would somehow lead to the demise of the sport and death of ICE (instead of reopening tracks, extended opening hours, and better acceptability of the sport by the general public).
Many people simply do not like change, and don't understand that it is an addition to existing bikes, that someone riding electrics doesn't remove anything from them, doesn't require them to change their own habit if they don't want to.
I've been riding and racing my Alta all over New England the past 3+ years and I have never had anyone come up to me with any negative comments. Everyone loved seeing it and was curious on how it performed. And if I had them try it, they came back with a smile on their face. All those confrontational comments seem to be exclusively on social media
No doubt people can't be as obnoxious in real life as online or they'd get punched in the face all the time
Hate is usually fear.
In this case the fear is real, most 2stroke riders will have no chance to hang with the Varg (of course this is not true for the fastest racers). For most weekend warriors the Varg will be faster and seems that people hate it, want it banned therefore.
If the Varg would have gotten luke warm reviews it would not be the case, but (unfortunately) Stark delivered a very good bike on their first try.
