Yeah, seems like there's no point in getting the surron if the new talaria r is available. Additionally talaria has a gear driven reduction vs the surrons belt reduction.
I agree the talaria stock is better vs stock Surron. But if you’re a psychopath like myself. Once you start upgrading the bike with higher voltage batteries and motor/controllers. The Surron has more options as far as keeping the look cleaner. When you upgrade to a bigger battery you will have to remove the battery cover completely on the talaria. The Surron has adapters for their covers so you it doesn’t look like you have a gigantic battery sitting between your nut sack. The oil gearbox is a solid idea but once the seals start leaking you will need to overhaul the gearbox. Upgrade the belt on the Surron and you should be fine. Chain drive upgrade will never break but adds more noise to experience. Either way both bikes are pretty solid just depends if you want to keep it stock talaria has a little more power and range with the 45AH battery. Either way you can get a solid 50miles on eco mode 31mph average speed.
The Surron starts out a little lighter too.
I have both now. We’ve had 2 surrons for 2 summers now. One of them I’ve slightly modded. They are great fun bikes but my new talaria mxr is superior in every way! Power brakes handling, fit and finish. Yes it is a bit heavier and taller but that actually makes it feel more planted and Handle better in my opinion. My wife likes the surron better, but I would never buy one if an mxr is available. That’s my opinion.
The Shop
The Talaria MXR is going to have just as many parts and upgrades available as the Sur Ron as people buy them and companies see a market.
I got a Talaria Sting MX4 R from Lunacycle.com about a week ago. There is a ton of stuff available for them already. The new motor batt combo is insanely powerful and doesnt even need to be upgraded at all in my opinion. Its faster than my WR250R. haha.
This is BY FAR the most fun I have EVER had on a bike. I am eating a ton of crow after bitching about EBikes.
I built mine with a 54 tooth rear sprocket, non oring chain, Taller 3" riser bars (El cheapos for 50 bucks), Foot pegs from a CR80, New Pro circuit foot pegs springs, grips and an enjoy cheapo seat cover. Dont think I will ever have to do anything more to it.
I even ride at night now... haha. My neighbors def think I am crazy now if they didnt already.
I just got one too. Did the CR80 pegs drop right in?
I have heard the CR150F and CR80 will mount right on the stock mounts. I used the ones black ones below.
Make sure to order a new set of springs. The stock ones are a little too short. You could bend the stock spring I guess but the ones below worked perfect.

3" Riser Bars: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4W62DQC?th=1
The (31.8mm) el cheap-o handle bars are more than strong enough for what I am doing. (Yard track ripping.)
I had a set of Protaper Reed bend laying around but the talaria comes with a little larger 31.8mm diameter riser clamp. So to run protapers... you have to get a new riser mount as well.
Im 6'4" and dont feel cramped at all on it.
Here it is without the pegs installed yet.
Nice man!
Maybe I’m being dumb, but with me riding Mx tracks, I’m scared of aluminum foot pegs.
Aluminium footpegs are fine as long as you use a well regarded brand, many of the footpegs available for the Surron are made in China from 6061 which is not up to standard, I am using the JXR titanium footpegs because I fear the same as you.

It’s a little cringey but …
What's the latest on Surron vs. Talaria? Any other competitors in the space worth considering?
I am going to pick one up for my wife to do very light trail riding on and for myself to cruise the neighborhood and find/make jumps here and there. What's the best option at the moment?
Thanks!
There’s a new bike called an E Ride Pro SS that is apparently faster than the Talaria Sting R
Guys from Fox have been bringing 2-3 Talaria's down to my track to test out suspension. Best setup has been the EXT's . Brakes suck on the Talaria. They also put a bigger rear wheel and kenda MX tire on it too. I have ridden it quite a bit. Its pretty fast and does pretty damn good on my track. The big table tops are pretty harsh on it, but the average stuff it soaks up pretty well. My guess is completely stock suspension on these would suck. The Sting R is the one they have modified.
Awesome 👍
With the numbers these things seem to do and all the different Chinese companies pumping out similar bikes it's kinda nuts one of the companies doesn't charge a little more and put good suspension, brakes, and wheels on it from the factory.
