A few months ago I decided to build a RMZ - Yamaha 2 stroke conversion. I had a 2019 RMZ250 and I bought a basket case 02 YZ250. The YZ unfortunately needed a cylinder and a crank rebuild so I bought a Magnum big bore kit a pro x rod and replacement crank stuffers. I did a little bit of work to the cylinder and head to smooth out the delivery....Once I got the motor completed I turned up spacers for the swingarm pivot and cut out some new mounting plates for the front and lower engine mounts. The top engine mount was a bit more complicated but not impossible so I whittled up some more bits. To mount the carb and air boot I bought an 06 RM 125 boot and made an adapter plate out of carbon fiber plate and glued and riveted it all together. The rads were a bit of a dick to figure out but I ended up using the beat up rads off the YZ with some new mount plates welded on. The pipe was also tedious to get fitted but with some bending , twisting and a new mount welded to the back I got it fitted. I have not modified any part of the original RMZ frame or plastics so I can put the 4 stroke back in at any time.
Went down that road with a 2008 RMZ frame and YZ motor. Was a fun project.
Even with the red n white theme.
That's freakin awesome 🤘
Thanks for posting.
I'll put the white fork guards on soon enough. 😁
