AMetts Added a reply to Race Gas - Chemical burns

The old style 1/4 turn KTM gas caps that they only use on the off-road bikes now have a check valve in the actual gas cap itself. I think in a SX setting something like that probably isn't worth it as if it fails you are are screwed so they really are better off just going with the hose setup...

I dont think he was having fun but with the amount that was splashing out it was probably evaporating on his clothes before it had time to really soak in. Its happened in GNCC quite a few times at pit stops, I know Stu Baylor got it really bad one time, he keeps a big towel on his crotch during...
I dont know the exact setup you are working with but I have used these to repair shroud bolts in a tank before, they use an adapter for a soldering iron to heat them up and then you just push them in. My dads a retired plastics engineer and I discussed with him multiple times on stuff like this, the...

AMetts Added a reply to KTM 250 sx or KTM 300 sx

4/14/2026 11:34am
That's probably the only complaint I have with my 300 is it signs off pretty early, the only reason I would really like it to go a bit further is prevent shifting to fourth then immediately back into 3rd I can ALMOST keep it in 3rd most of the time and instead of shifting when it signs off I'm so...

I have a 300 and have rode the 250, they are both good and you can probably find a leftover 250 for a significantly better deal and that would be enough to sway me that direction. There is an area in the revs this thing just has a different sound and is pulling like a freight train, its not in...

AMetts Added a reply to Looking at trials bikes

4/13/2026 11:18am
I raced MX when I was younger and broke my back when I was 12 then did trials for a few years until I started riding big bikes again. Its really fun and recommend finding your local trials club and doing a meet its insanely low stress and a very easy to learn format you spend most of the time...

AMetts Added a reply to Where does Plessinger go for 2027?

4/9/2026 5:36am
I think he will probably race a GNCC or two when he retires for fun, but no chance he makes a second career in GNCC. He's not riding sand whoops or 3 foot deep mud holes for 3 hours for a fraction of what he is making right now.

Agree, I think he took a gamble taking a bit lower pay on a bike he knows he can put his best results in so that he can really cash in on his next deal. Seems like its worked for him so far.

AMetts Added a reply to Pressure Washer Recommendations

4/7/2026 10:13am
Ive had the Karcher cube one for a couple years now and its lasted washing two bikes probably 30 weekends a year. For the guys looking at electric pressure washers don't spend any more than like $150-$200, it will not have more power all the pressure ratings are bogus using different tips, most of them use one of three different...

AMetts Added a reply to Cupped out whoops?

4/1/2026 5:10am
Not sure where this was at but assuming somewhere that has a mix of fast guys. I notice that at supercross that cup section is way higher on the whoops vs like your picture and what I've seen at other tracks. Goes to show that's how those guys can hit them so fast they are just skimming them so high...

Would certainly do a timing chain and valve seals, its a lot easier when you are already in there, clean the carbon off the valves too. Assuming you have a fair amount of hours on it atleast 100-150.

AMetts Added a reply to Handguards save lives (and points)

The Enduro Engineering perch mount are far and away the best handguard setup out there. Vast majority of the GNCC teams run these and if they are sponsored by another brand its usually these mounts with that companies shields screwed to them.

I sort of had that issue with my SE5 I think it has to do with the Mips system they use with the slick part against the pads. I wear a large and ended up putting a medium headliner in mine and it made everything a lot more solid.
If you can find a deal on a TX/XC or EX you will get the new spring forks and the bigger tank and 18" rear. Not like the moto bikes are bad for hare scrambles though and OEM big tanks are like $150. You wont get the map switch on the GasGas so it will be in the "tamer" map...

AMetts Added a reply to Jo’s lack of race IQ

Explains a bit why he seems to be an even better rider outdoors, where the passes come a little easier compared to supercross. I wonder how often he rides with a track full of guys during the week? I don't imagine he is doing that a lot especially compared to the Star guys, not like you need to be making...
