Mr Happy Added a reply to Blue anodized
1/18/2025 11:06am Where are you getting it done that it's difficult and expensive? You can do it at home with a battery charger, some battery acid, Rit-Dye and a kettle. The only reason I don't do my own is the quantities I take to the annodiser they charge me beer money, and strip old finishes off for nothing. It can be stripped...

Mr Happy Added a reply to Blue anodized
1/5/2025 9:14am Buy it from different sources, in different colours if needs be, then get your local annodiser to strip the old finish off and annodise the bits whatever colour you want.

4/23/2024 7:34am I offered to do the shock months ago as it's something I've done before. Swapping the hose out isn't hard and I suggested doing the other work while it was apart, yet you were obsessed with the idea that it just needed regassing and the hose replacing without rebuilding it.

4/17/2024 4:29pm If the spring is meant to fit the 125 then it's going to be soft. I'm 78kg and I'm easily too heavy for the stock spring on the bigger 70s and 80s bikes, let alone the 125s. I found single rate springs for rally car coilovers are pretty much the correct diameter and available in loads of lengths and rates...

3/3/2024 4:55am I've never used any kind of driver or press to get crank bearings in or out. If you turn the cases upside down and heat them up, then the bearings should drop out. When putting them back in just sit from over the hole straight, heat up the case again and they should just drop in. Same for any bearing...

2/7/2024 5:38am Ew, Venhill cables. I found a local company that builds HVAC equipment that is happy to build ours for us. I've always had a fitment issue with at least one cable on any order I've placed with Venhill, and their customer service is really awful. I cannot put in to words how awful Venhill's customer service is.
Mr Happy Added a reply to 83 YZ125 K Restoration
1/27/2024 8:41am I'd contact them and ask for dimensions as the 80/81 shocks are very close to the 83, as I got hold of a 83 YZ490 shock body and used to build a bitsa 80 YZ465 shock to get the damping adjustment.

1/26/2024 9:13am It is possible to hard annodise the shock body and gas chamber to save them, but that's only if they aren't scored. To be honest the cost of rebuilding the stock shock, hard annodising, seal head, bearings, spring, etc.. is pretty much the same as buying a YSS shock, as I believe they are available for the 125 as well...
Mr Happy Added a reply to Who can identify this mystery part?
10/3/2023 2:12am If you feel a difference then I have some clothes you might like to buy. They only appear invisible to gullible people.
Mr Happy Added a reply to Triumph,Wtf are you doing?..
9/4/2023 11:19am 500 two strokes needed less maintenance than a 250 and people stopped buying those when they became too powerful to be enjoyable for the average consumer. It's why arguing about capacity equivalence with four strokes is a dead end, because we had 500 two strokes and people stopped buying them. I like my 500, but I can happily ride my...

8/28/2023 3:31am I have a YZ125 that doesn't rev high when running out of fuel, and a YZ465 that does. Both have V-Force reeds.

Mr Happy Added a reply to WSX Attendance....
7/18/2023 12:04pm Yeah, yeah, no doubt. I mean I hate it too when promoters try to sell the sport I enjoy to different markets, and put effort in to growing it in order to sustain it's future. There's nothing worse than seeing more people enjoying the same things I enjoy.
Mr Happy Added a reply to British wsx stadium empty
7/2/2023 6:37am Because it would mean running indoors and the only places in the UK where it could take place are all higher capacity venues where the empty seats would be even more obvious. Plus it wouldn't change anything. Hosting a race in December wouldn't magically mean people could now afford to go. If anything it would be worse just before Christmas.

6/30/2023 2:00am Not necessarily. RS2000s are worth big stacks of cash and there are 9000 of those left from the 5000 Ford originally built.
Mr Happy Added a reply to 2 strokes arent amazing
6/29/2023 5:31pm Horses for courses. E3 allows unlimited capacity 2 and 4 strokes, and most riders use 300 2 strokes. Trials still seems to be split.
Mr Happy Added a reply to 2 strokes arent amazing
6/29/2023 8:13am Two totally different applications. The capacity line that's trotted out is a strawman arguement as 500 two strokes existed and there is a reason why they died out. Racing class capacity limits didn't kill two strokes in MX. The buying public killed two strokes by buying four strokes. If the market still really wanted two strokes Honda would have a...
Mr Happy Added a reply to 2 strokes arent amazing
6/29/2023 7:03am I've owned plenty of four strokes, but I always love riding my 2003 CR250. It has always been reliable, costs very little to run, and because people pull cock stands for two strokes it will always be worth more than I paid for it. An early CRF is worth far less and will likely never really climb in value. I'll...
