I'm assuming Herlings is on the 27 model with the completely new engine, since the bros have never had a single mechanical dnf?

You'd think they'd do something to capture the younger riders. A little out of touch. Yes, all the fun bikes, but, hardly race ready... as was the 150R. Imagine a little CR85R (CR112R) for the little guys!

Do you have a ballpark on how many hours you have into the bike? Building it, I mean. Sounds crispy!!

I agree in that there's a whole package to consider when buying a bike like handling, power, weight, price, dealer support, durability, features, quality, etc. And I also realize that it seems like we're often splitting hairs often when comparing bike specs because they are all so good now. Everyone is very different, but for me a 10lb difference to nearly identical tech across bike brands is definitely something significant to consider for a new 2-stroke, even if people think I can't feel a difference on the track. If 10lbs doesn't matter to some of you guys, then where is...

I really have absolutely no idea what all that info is for, but since you think that lighter isn't better, than why don't you add 50 pounds of lead to your bike? . I know for a fact that Jeff Ward and Ron Lechien were not complaining about their bikes being too light in 1986. Also, Jeff Fredette started racing a green bike in 1983, but I guess you didn't see that because you were at a different race.

Complete stupidity. Pounds consist of ounces and if ounces don't matter then neither do pounds. With that mindset everyone should just ride their favorite Harley Bagger around the MX track.

Whenever these weight topics come up I think about ktms spokes breaking several years ago. The next gen gained weight, but the wheels stayed together. Or Rodger talking about machining things until they broke during testing, then backing it off a bit and moving on to the next part. 😅

If true, that would be very disappointing and a darn right pig for a 2 stroke. I get used to whatever I am riding after a lap or 2, but I do notice the weight when I switch between bikes of different weight, and always feel better with the lighter weight. I think weight reduction is not cheap. To make...

The 2027 Yamaha YZ 2T's have been announced and not a single change. The YZs were great, but now with this new KX 2T at almost the same price, who would buy one?? Yamaha will need to launch an all new YZ for 2028. Anyone have a clue why Kawasaki used round tubing for the engine cradle on an aluminum...

For me the addiction isn’t as much the adrenaline but the peace I get when I’m on the bike. That peace is next to impossible to explain to anyone who hasn’t ridden. I’m so focused and zeroing in on what I’m doing there’s no room for thoughts of anything else. For those moments I have no stress, no bills, no political garbage, no spam calls, no drama, nothing. That is peace

Well said! I'm 69 and still riding mx. I don't race but ride pratice days about once a week. Like Gravel I've had my share of injuries, bought a lot of bikes and spent too much money. But I still love to ride, and I'll continue doing it until I can't. So , hell yes it's addictive! lol

Sir, I’m doing my due diligence on the topic. There’s not a steel fastener anywhere in my build. I’d like to eventually speak more scientifically. Right now, I’m a Mad Scientist with a Lab Project. Hoping for the best. I’ve got a Titanium Pro Circuit 5.2 spring off a late model KYB on to the Showa. Was reading your post about that earlier. There’s a plethora of historic information in here. Just using the search option.

Wow, you dug up an ancient post. I was referring to where factory bikes at the time often didn't use titanium in some areas because of flex concerns.. another area being the shock linkage pull rod to knuckle pivot bolt. Since that post, I now have personal experience with titanium bolts in all those areas and I also don't ride...
