Forgive us if this sounds familiar, but for the second week in a row, our winners from the Monster Energy Supercross Series are Chad Reed and Jason Lawrence.
Jason (Boost Mobile Yamaha of Troy) had the "easy" main event of the night, taking over the lead from Austin Stroupe on the first lap. From there he cruised to his second Lites win, and moved to within eight points of Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey, who struggled on Saturday night with multiple crashes. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki duo of Stroupe and Brett Metcalfe rounded out the podium.
If you were looking for a surprise winner atop the Supercross-class podium, well, you're not going to get it...at least this week. Kevin Windham challenged Chad Reed early on, but a flat front tire set him back. That gave Chad a sweep of the Anaheim rounds in '08.
The good news is, there are some challengers on the horizon. Davi Millsaps finished up in second spot, despite having a painful arm injury that he got while practicing last week. Tim Ferry was also as close as he's ever been to the lead.
Chad now has a 26-point lead on the rest of the pack as we head to San Diego next weekend.
One other bit of good news...we woke up to rain here in So. Cal. on Sunday morning, so we definitely dodged the bullet of another rainy Wet...er, West coast round. Let's cross our fingers that we have a dry one for San Diego, before the series heads east to the safety of the domed stadiums.
