So, here's my thought about the Friese/ Craig crash. I watched it 4-5 times. To me it looked like Craig had made a clean pass in the rhythm section and was past Friese. If you look at the roost coming off of Friese's rear tire it looks to me he never let off the gas and T-boned Craig intentionally. The thing that bothers me is that Craig was clearly faster in the first moto and although it took a lap or two to get around Friese because Friese rides a wide bike, taking out Craig was just wrong. Also, if you look at Friese's past as everyone knows he's a pretty dirty rider. He also took out Shimota (that could be argued) but he hit him pretty hard and send him off the track. I've been racing most of my life and have never been a fan of dirty riders. I hope the AMA steps in and does something. As Shred said in an earlier comment, what is it going to take? Someone getting seriously injured by Friese to get him blackballed?

Unpopular opinion!
But Friese was in front down the straight and from the behind angle he never looked like he was going to the inside. He was on the gas way to hard from the landing to ever make that.
I’m calling unintentional racing incident. You can tell from his body positioning that he didn’t intend to hit him (unless he is super good at hiding it)
Just 2 dudes going for the same real estate.
I agree that he is a blocker and most of the shit he pulls is bullshit but I feel like he’s getting a bad wrap for how dramatic this one was

Fine to debate the dirtyness of the move or Friese's history but it's clear Carmichael has a hate on for Vince Friese. As a broadcaster to keep backing the bus over him is so unprofessional. Then saying " he is nowhere near the level of Craig" is just over the line. Carmichael needs to understand the power of his voice and he's not the judge and jury.

I’m glad Ricky said it...and repeated it. Would you speak differently if Craig were paralyzed right now?? It could have happened. Friese is a menace that is a danger to the riders around him. I don’t like championships that are effected by riders injuring others...or taking out contenders carelessly. I’m okay with racing and some rubbing...but friese is way over the line. J-bone...time to do your new job. Suspend and quadruple probation when suspension is up. As in...the sport is better without friese.

I don't disagree that the statement was harsh but I also think Ricky made the point because it was relevant to the situation. The move by Friese was even more unnecessary and frustrating because of the fact that Craig was so much faster than him, meaning the pass was basically a foregone conclusion. Did Friese really think he was going to be able to obstruct Craig for the next nine minutes even though Craig was clearly faster? Or was he thinking that he'd suddenly find way more speed and run away from Craig? Neither was going to happen so Friese getting aggressive makes no sense at all, not even for Friese. The move not only ended up costing Craig the win but also cost Friese his chance at a podium, and all because Friese wanted to go for a win that's just not going to happen given his current speed. Couple this with the fact that Friese has probably the most take-outs of any current rider (something the AMA needs to deal with) and the criticism becomes warranted IMHO.

What you wrote is a fair statement, but Carmichael did tell the truth. Friese isn't as fast as Craig. Just saying in fairness.

Strongest argument it IS the truth. However in a social climate where perceived dirty moves has lead to death threats, as a broadcaster you bear some responsibility.

We have all watched him do this for years when he was riding his 450. He and Alessi would get good starts and quickly fall back. Problem with Friese is that after all of the years of racing SX, he still hasn’t figured out how to stay in front of other riders without taking them and himself out. I think it will take an airlift ride by himself before he stops doing this. I agree that when we see these deliberate attempts to take out another rider that they are suspended for at least one race.
Frieze, it’s been long enough, ride clean or retire!

Friese needs to be penalized for this crap. What goes on in this guy’s head? Are we going to wait for someone to be seriously hurt by him crossing lines in the air, or smashing into people? It isn’t even that he was committed to the outside, he literally switched his line at the last second knowing he was half a bike length behind at the time. Supercross is dangerous enough without guys like this idiot zigzagging around the track smashing into people that are passing him. He isn’t stopping until he is forced to.
