This was on Craigslist 2 hrs south of me on Monday morning....had been for sale for at least 3-4 days..could not believe it was still available...this bike cannot have more than 6-8 hrs on it...everything stock accept the rear tire...I have been looking for a decent 93-97 for 2-3 years now....this won’t be much of a build, it’s a clean & grease job. Going to stay all original...
amazing what a find ! congrats on keeping a treasure like that

Nice find! I had a 94 with a 97 subframe, and big bore kit. I really regret selling it. Nice to see a well preserved example out there.

Thanks Jim, what were the sub frame differences? I thought they were the same 93-97?

Thinking more about it, I don’t know that the subframe itself was different, but the airbox and side panels/number plates were different. From what I’ve found the 94 airbox was white, 97 black. 94’s plates were a little more rounded, where the 97 was a little more triangular. It was just an aesthetic difference, but I really like the look of the 97. The bike came that way when I bought it, and the owner told me he’d just swapped a 97 subframe on it.

Maybe my memory is fuzzy.... I remember going up a tooth or 2 on the rear sprocket and pulling modified blue, yellow & green bikes all day long....

I'm happy you found that Sandman, instead of some Craigslist chooch that thinks the bike would look way better sprayed BBQ black and used it to ride with thier quad buddies.
I raced a 94 in mx and harescrambles. Best bike i ever owned. I made a poor life choice buying a new 01 yz250f. That Honda was my good friend and I sold out on it.

Thanks Man, I am still shocked this bike was not sold in a few hrs after listing it....I have been scanning all the for sale ads for at least 3 years and have yet to find one even remotely close to this condition...I will finish cleaning it up in the fall/winter...

Put a little time in on this one... shock oil, seal & bumper replaced. New chain slider, original was still good but it broke! New rear brake hose guide

Good gentle work! Have considered changing the engine seals? My low hour 96 250 didn't run really well until I changed them. You can do it without taking the engine out.

Agree that would be a good idea before putting it into service...not sure what I”m doing with this bike, so I”m just cleaning and greasing it.....Kind of preserving it until I decide if I will ride it or not.

About 5 years ago I bought 2 bulk rolls from Doc Wob in the Uk.....it was expensive, but it’s the right stuff.

One of my better finds! The only thing not original is the rear tire. Still has the stock bars & grips! I have to cleanup the wheel hubs, they have some stains on them. I had to get it rolling again and off my lift. My 250SX needs a bunch of work.
