Thanks brother.
I was trying to up the usual build thread with a more involved twist on it. Trying to show how most aspects were done so you could try it yourself.
Basically creating something I would enjoy following along with.

It’s comments such as yours and others in this thread that make it that much more worth it to go the extra effort.

Cool beans Chance...Thank you.
I guess it’s my age but, the late 80s through mid 90s Hondas always had a special place in my heart . Scanning through magazines, I was always in awe of new models.
I honestly think as far as aesthetics, its tough to beat a well taken care of or in your case a nicely restored steel frame CR.

I financed a brand new 1992 CR 250 In 92. It had to be due to reading the usual bike rags.
Prior to this it had been used beaters. Last one being an 89 KX 250 I bought off Joel Albrecht who was getting free bikes from Kawi. So one of his practice bikes.
Riding that CR sealed the deal for me as it relates to the most memorable bike I ever owned.
It inspired an amazing level of confidence.

Buying the 95 was simply due to not at the time finding a 92.
Doing further research to restore just exposed me to how popular and indeed very unique the 92-96 years are. I always enjoyed the appearance along with the process of restoring. Boom.....Super hooked.

Those were good years to be into moto Chance.

I have an 01 CR. I couldn't find a 92-96 CR in Washington anywhere.I was really wanting a 94. I even had my cousin in So Cal look for me while I was on market for one. Roaches that were absolutely beat were going for $1800+. I couldn't believe it. I figured the 01 is the basically the same motor from 92 and parts availability for OEM was a bit better. Grudgingly, I bought the 01. Something about a clean CR 250 I've always admired. It has a lot to do with my grandfather turning me onto Hondas as a kid then, watching Rick Johnson on one and, McGrath just absolutely dominate. Going to Honda dealerships and checking out the showroom knowing back then it wasn't something I could afford lol. Still fun to drool over though. Here's a couple pics of what should've been a steel frame. Once again, thanks for sharing.

Love the build, excellent work. Me and my father just recently rebuilt a 1990 KTM 250 MX, but we didn’t do it back to original, but relatively close.

My favorite bikes are from the early 90’s, and this makes me smile to see someone still appreciating them in this day and age.

Thanks ZR. I did a KTM 300 last year. It was an early 90s bike.
I bought it for a grand and was just barely able to get at least my money back. Not my time.
Older KTMs can be a super challenge to get parts for. Prior to 90 then it becomes extremely difficult.

Awesome bike Chance. Looks perfect and is a fine representation of an early 2000 CR. Great work.
95’s have been easy to find. 93 and 94 are less common with 92s showing up just under 95s recently.
Calif. is a good place to be for used bikes.

It was a challenge to source parts for the KTM but we’ve finally got her done.

Don’t have hardly any good pictures of her but there she is. Also please excuse the messy garage haha.

Wow... Great job brother. Looks fantastic.
EVO-MX for the graphics if you haven’t purchased any. Outstanding quality.
I just saw here in Ca a 91 300 for $1500.00.
Just sad how poorly these early KTMs hold their value.

Great effort on your part. Plenty to feel good about.

Turned out fantastic and I actually like the black rims.
Big time thanks for taking so much time to explain how you did certain steps and with pictures. Many people reading your thread have learned a thing or two as such..

Super generous Loo. I continue to use the same techniques. As I develop more streamlined processes I will add those to my restores. Plenty of future restores to do here. At least 6 more.

Again thank you for those comments guys. You inspire me to insure to make more of them in other members build threads.

Brian I purchased a blemish Clarke. I should have bought everyone they had at that time.
