Finished the bike up last weekend. Here are some final pics. I'm pretty stoked with how it came out.
Went to start it and couldn't get it to idle. After tearing the carb apart, I noticed the needle was actually broken in the top. The carb that is on the bike is a PWK 38mm AirStryker and finding that needle was a pain! Nonetheless, I got it back together last night and looking to start it up this weekend.
I am having an issue getting the rear brake to have enough pressure to press the pads to the rotor. The pad touches the rotor but not enough to stop the rear wheel from spinning. I also already rebuilt the rear master cylinder so I know that shouldn't be an issue. The 2001 had a plastic reservoir for the brake fluid and a diaphragm in it. I noticed the 03+ incorporates the brake fluid container inside of the metal housing, just all like new bikes today. Does anyone know of there are any compatible rear master cylinders I could swap out? I've been searching on line and can't seem to find anything. I might try to get a MityMite and try to bleed the brakes that way, but I am kind of scratching my head at this one.
Sorry man I thought I had posted a follow up to this but I guess not. So I got a brake bleeder from harbor freight and that solved my rear brake issue. Went to Perris Raceway out here in Cali and on the first lap, I instantly had no rear brake. I pulled off the track and realized the rear brake line had cracked on the swing arm and brake fluid was everywhere. I guess the line was dry-rotted from the inside out and after one jump it just broke. Riding without a rear brake is one thing on a fourstroke, but man on a two stroke it is a whole different beast! My right arm was so pumped up after riding that day! I went ahead and bought a braided line for both the front and rear, as well as Ride Engineering's front brake fork wrap around kit to get rid of the under the fork style the 2001 has. I'm still messing with the jetting a little bit because I have a PWK Air Stryker carb on there. But all in all, the bike runs and handles great! Next step is to try out some of the Pro Taper EVO bars to try to lower the vibration at the handlebars and go up a few teeth in the rear sprocket because I am having a hard time staying the sweet spot to get out of the corners. I only have about 3 hours of ride time on the bike, but it is an absolute blast to ride!
