There was a crash in the first 250 moto that caused a red flag and no one seems to be asking how Coty is doing. Here is a update on Coty, broke his right wrist and back.
Get Well Soon!

Somehow I just hit the delete button, so here is a repost.

Someone asked in a post somewhere on here but yeap, bummer for Coty. But he qualified for his first ever pro national grabbing the 36th spot in timed qualifying fresh off Loretta's.

Based on the low key responses, I'm assuming his spinal cord is fine? Some fractured vertebrae is all?

Crazy to us moto people, that a "broken back" isn't that big a deal. Unless the cord is damaged.

Positive vibes and prayers are up for Coty.

That track was jacked, I can see why Tomac was backing it down, Roczen however had that mess dialed!

spoke to a very close family friend yesterday about his condition. broke his L3, ( no loss of feeling or anything like that) finger and wrist. some rods/pins/screws were put in during surgery yesterday. I was told he was landed on alessi style twice!! wishing the schock family the very best!!

I had heard wrist but didn't know about the back. I hope he has a full and speedy recovery. I wonder if he's at the same hospital as Nelson? So scary to have 2 broken backs from the same race day.

Aah- not nice- Really hope he heals up-
Think people maybe thought he may not have been injured so bad(including me) because in the coverage of the races sort of showed him waving in the medical scoot, sort of like he may not have been too badly injured or at least showing a brave face- or that is how I sort of interpreted it.
Not nice news, to hear of these injuries, hoped and thought he may have been ok.
This sport in all its many exciting colours can also be quite brutal and cruel at the worse of times.

Really hope it is an injury Coty can totally recover from, very best wishes to him and hope we can all see him racing again and showing what he is really capable of now he is clearly a fast pro-rider.

So cool to see Coty getting some coverage, but I wish it wasn't this way....
I've watched him ride since he was on an 85, and the kid has some amazing talent. Hope he can recover from this fast and pick up where he left off.

Yea- hopefully Coty will have his time though in the future with some TV coverage and results that show what a great rider he must be- heal up soon and come back fighting.
Got to respect the brave face he put on also (in the coverage)- kind of acknowledging the crowd and their support/ concern it seemed like.

I saw updates on his condition somewhere. Probably intermingled with the Nelson update thread.

The good news news is the spinal cord ends before the L3. There are still root areas and disc injuries at this level can have sciatic issues. Nothing is absolute as far as injury, but the lower the better and in no way am I discounting the injury. Nonetheless, regardless where, spine injuries can be concerning. Just giving info.

Sucks for Coty for these things to happen but even more so early in his career. Heres to conplete recovery so we can get this kid back out in pursuit of living his dream.

Text Coty's dad yesterday and today.
He as a fractured wrist. Broken back L1-L2. Had surgery yesterday and went well. He was hit in the back by another rider when he went down. His dad did not mention anything about paralysis.

I know he wears an Atlas neck brace but I'm not sure what or if he had a chest pro. I know he used to wear a TLD / Shock Doctor hard plastic one but that was a while ago......

This picture is from practice, but from what it looks like, he wears some sort or under jersey protection. I asked about him in the Nelson thread so it go lost in there. Matt Wozney provided the update in there. First time I saw the kid ride was the 2 stroke shootout in 2014 at Sleepy Hollow and have been a fan ever since. Best wishes to him and hope for a speedy recovery!

Here's a pic from the 2-stroke shootout this past year at Sleepy Hollow

Best wishes for Coty, he is the DE local celeb/fast guy, always keeping snake creek in tip top shape. Nice kid too. Kinda of ticks me off that Jessy Nelson is getting tons of attention and nothing about Coty if any, not that its good attention, but they both need the good vibes, support, gofundmes, etc. not just the known pro guy. Off my soap box now, get well Coty!

And this is why I posted this thread. Factory rider getting all the attention and help. But a rookie doing it on his own gets no help.

This is so wrong, the rookie needs all our support and R2R help more than Jessy IMO.

Get well soon Coty! I was in St Elizabeths since Friday and heard over the intercom when they brought you in. Well a nurse later told me that another one of us just showed up. Luckily i got out yesterday, but fortunately the nurses are pretty cool there!

I always donate when I checkout from Motosport, is there any way to know who specifically those funds are going towards? Not that I don't want to see Jessy get a large amount of help, but who decides how the funds are appropriated?
