From motorsport.com. As far as I'm concerned the Japanese teams should pull out of the Daytona SX too. F#%k the DMG. All Daytona is doing is screwing Wayne Rainey because the DMG ran road racing into the toilet in the USA.

Historic motorcycle race has sagged to the point of near-invisibility the past decade.

A staple of the motorcycle racing world since 1937, there may be no more Daytona 200s. For sure, there won't be one in 2015.

Said Joie Chitwood, president of Daytona International Speedway: “After having multiple discussions with Moto America/KRAVE regarding a sanction agreement for 2015 Daytona 200, we were unable to find common ground on a business model that would be beneficial for both parties. We wish MotoAmerica/KRAVE the best as they begin their inaugural season in 2015.

“Daytona International Speedway will continue to be the driving force behind Bike Week, hosting a wide range of activities for all ages including the Daytona Supercross, the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross and the AMA Pro Flat Track doubleheader, as well as demo rides, displays and vendors. We will continue to look for partners to assist in running the Daytona 200.”

The Daytona 200 started as a beach race, then moved to the Speedway in 1961. Past winners include Scott Russell, Migel Duhamel, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson and Nicky Hayden. But in the past 10 years, the race has sagged in popularity, as manufacturer support disappeared. The race this year wasn't even televised. The 2014 version was won by Danny Eslick (in photo).

The AMA's road racing division had been operated out of Daytona Beach as sort of a partner to NASCAR, but about a month ago the assets were shifted to a new group. Moto America/KRAVE that includes racer Wayne Rainey, a past winner of the race, and is affiliated with Dorna, the MotoGP promoter. That group apparently wasn't able to come to an agreement for 2015 to keep the Daytona 200 going.

It is painful to see what has happened to American Road Racing.
Hopefully Wayne can work some magic for the future.

That is akin to reading the Indy 500 has been cancelled. Not quite the same impact on the world stage nor as historic race as the Indy 500 but in the world of motorcycling this cancellation has the potential for seismic damage. I hope smart people will make the right decisions and get this race back ASAP.

I don't know what kind of deal Feld has with DMG, the speedway, or whoever is in charge of the Daytona SX but maybe it's time for them to bring all 17 rounds in house. Any suitable college stadiums within a short distance of Dayton Beach?

Not running at Daytona is probably for the best. The people who own that place are the same people who have spent the better part of a decade trying to make sure roadracing dies completely in America. Besides it's a pretty crappy track for motorcycles.

I suppose it's probably a good thing in a way. Not one tire company can make a tire that stays together on the banking.

"In the past 10 years the race has sagged in popularity". What do they expect when they mandate support class machinery in the premier US motorcycle roadracing event? Throw on some lame rules about spec equipment, limit what the teams to parts that can be bought by anyone. Of course American roadracing is in the crapper. DMG had no clue how to run a M/C roadracing series. This isn't NASCAR and the fan base is vastly different. The average M/C roadracing fan owns a sport bike, which in stock trim is capable of running within several seconds a lap of the pure race machines....not NASCAR at all.

Internet, insurance, lawyers and NASCAR. Too many videos of dudes crashing on a street bike at high speeds. Insurance and lawyers...enough has been said about those two ... Now on to going around and around in circles turning left. Maybe I need to watch a full race before I comment on this, but as a 2 wheel fan I find it hard to see the glory except there is bass ass money involved. Why would you race 2 wheels professionally except for Moto GP ? A chance to get really badly injured for a 1000 purse ... The top 10 of the MX world can hold there own at the bank. The rest, are mortgaging their grand kids inheritance . NASCAR in the US are like royalty . Private jets, helicopter rides to the track etc...

I stopped watching when Mat Miladin won everything every year. Just wasn't exciting. It is surprising though with how many sportbikes I see out on the road these days.

It is kinda boring to watch on TV too, can't really get a sense of speed.

Well Jersey, You stopped to soon, Ben Spies rose up and whooped Ol' Mladins ass a couple of years in a row and then went and won the world superbike title in his rookie year. Thankfully Wayne Rainey and the Krave group are trying to revive the sport. DMG tried to kill roadracing much like the way they let dirttrack dwindle to the Harley elite.
