Are they produced buy a contractor? I was under the impression they were, but a guy today was convinced that they are made in house. Just curious if anyone knows.

No idea. I was checking them out at one of the venders at Muddy Creek a few weeks ago and they looked pretty nice.

Unless something has changed in the last year or so they're made by one of the alpahbet companies. Their clothing is done by a factory that does only Fly.

Not unless Fly owns the Tong Ho Tsing Industrial Co. in China.

I just bought my son 2 of the Fly Trophy helmets. I'd swear they are identical replicas of the Shoei helmets. I'll not make any quality comparisons but I liked them enough to put my son's 8 y/o head in them.

helmets are made in china in a factory that produces many other's helmets, the gear is made in china in one of the same factories that makes everybody else's gear...they don't produce nearly enough gear to have their own factory, none of the clothing guys do.

They started their own factory to make most of the gear, but the helmets and some stuff is subbed out to different factories.

If he wants a helmet made by a company that manufactures and sells their own product, look at Shoei, Arai and Vemar. My choice is Vemar because they make ECE approved helmets in their own factory in Italy. I've omitted KBC and HJC because they are crap, imo. Everything else is relabeled stuff from China.

What about Bell? I would think they make their helmets in-house.

I've worn nothing but Arai's since about 1993, with one exception. In about 2001 I bought a Fly Tim Ferry model. It was basically an Arai clone, similar to G-man's helmet. It wasn't as nice or light as an Arai, but it was about 1/2 the price so I tried it out. I had a good crash in it and got KTFO cold for about 5 minutes. I don't remember anything else from that day. After that I went back to Arai's. Can't say it was the helmet's fault as it was a very hard crash, but it was enough to convince me.

Yes, I forgot about Suomy. They make good helmets but their styling could use an update.

[quote="Cygnus":22dhtdf7]What about Shark and Airoh?[/quote:22dhtdf7]

The last time I picked up a Shark it said "made in malaysia".

I'm not sure about Airoh as it isn't readily available in the US. In the new Vemar ad in Dirt Rider they say, "Every tre-composite Vemar helmet is produced by Vemar's craftsmen at it's own production facility, [b:22dhtdf7]the only European high end helmet manufacturer to never outsource it's production."[/b:22dhtdf7]. That leads me to believe that Airoh is another Chinese made lid.

those are sweet. isnt that the jesseman replica from like 03? I have the tim ferry replica still sitting in my room. since 03 all i have worn were fly helmets. i get them for dealer cost so i have no qualms about tossing one after i take a shot to the head, which is what should be done with any helmet after a hard shot.

the Airoh helmet is made in Italy also, and is a very good helmet, I ordered one from the UK, there is no US distributer as of yet. Trapas Parker wears one and also Mike Brown.

Do us a favor and take out the inner liner and look inside for the manufacturer's tag and tell us what it says.

Shoei,Arai, AGV, Suomy, HJC, KBC, Airoh, and Vemar are the only ones that I know of that actually do their own production. Just about everything else is designed by a designer and made to their specs by someone else. In street helmets, that means that what looks good may not be very aerodynamic. and noisy. Pretty much I always try to stick with someone that I know if I need a visor in a couple of years will still be around and have spare parts. I guess I've always spent the extra money for good safety gear. it's cheaper than my deductible, and I have an aversion to PT. " title="Smile">

Cool. The Airoh looks like a nice lid and I'd be bummed to find out that it wasn't made in Italy.
