I must have missed when this acquisition was made. Could be a cool deal if they did a KTM/Husqvarna type of situation and started making more Montesa branded competition bikes.

Yeah I just googled it and it sounds like it's been since the early 80s. Had no idea.

Yeah, its been about 30 or more years. I think the acquisition was to work around high tariffs on foreign made motorcycles.

It's been a very successful partnership . They've won 13 out of the last 15 World Championships (Outdoor)

Their top rider Toni Bou just won his 16th World Championship (8 Outdoor & 8 Indoor) putting him 1 ahead of the great Giacomo Agostini (15 WC) on the All Time list.

Honda has owned Montesa for a few decades now...early 80's.......
