So I'm looking into building a vintage open class bike and the idea of a front drum brake is honestly a bit terrifying. It looks like the late double leading brakes are the best functioning from what I've seen. Is there a certain model, OEM or aftermarket that was noticeably better? I was hoping there might be something aftermarket, but haven't found anything.
the 83 Hondas had them and with regular service they were pretty decent.
The Shop
Why would they?
That's kind of in the same category as converting the rear suspension to twin shocks
Also, not all double-leading shoe hubs are equal. Yamaha usually works well, Husky not so much.
There is a 490 Maico with the KYB conventional setup around here, works pretty well.
