For those of you who went with 51t rear sprocket, did you go with a new longer chain? 116 or 118?

I went with th 51t and longer chain. I didn't count the links. I also pulled the wheel all the way back for a longer wheelbase. I run a PC stainless exhaust, Notoil fast flow air filter and had Tokyo Mods reprogram the ECU. It has a wider power band. Comes on stronger and sooner. Also more top end power and over rev.

Because we have nothing to do I decided to start a small project, even though i have not ridden the bike so i got on order
Pro circuit TI6 Pro
Pro circuit clutch Cover
Pro circuit ignition Cover,

a custom remake of the 2002 simple graan kawaski graphics (switched simple green for Splitfire and other logo's for the things i plan on running)
a custom seatcover to match the graphics

Acerbis disc guard
acerbis skidplate
acerbis chainguide
All of them in the carbon look.

Green plastics for the front fender, fork guard and radiator shrouds

White plastics for the number plates and rear fender

dont know how to post pictures so will try to figure it out once I get some parts in

Yea when I first rode my 20,450 I thought yep it’s touchy I’ll have to fix that, but the more I rode it it didn’t bother me, I guess I adjusted to it,

Well quarantine has me going a little stir crazy, so I decided to make a needed improvement to my acerbis skid plate... One trip to harbor freight for some coarse Dremel rasp bits later...

I took my old OEM skid plate and traced the drain bolt cutout location into the Acerbis one with a sharp pick. Drilled a hole, then followed the traced lines with the Dremel. After that I did some cleanup with a sharp exacto knife to chamfer the edges and smooth the lines out.

Lay the bike on it's side (clutch side down), loosely put the rear bolts in, then you can hold the center bolt bar with one hand next to the ignition cover. Way easier that way. Or cut a hole like this one haha

You guys that have tried a hi compression piston, which one did you use and what was the ratio you chose? What did you feel you gained from it ?

I couldn't figure it out until I read the directions that came with it. You can easily hold the bar in place with your hand near the water pump.

I was going to just put the OEM one back in but got a good deal on a JE piston. I went with the 13.5:1 CR and while I only have ridden it twice, I really like it. I did it at the same time as an FMF pipe, so it's hard to tell what benefit came from which part, but I notice the bike pulls through the low end with no drama, whole before I would have to clutch it. I'd say it was a "more power everywhere" modification for me. So far I've been running pump gas (93 octane) and it works well. I did tune ECU with the KX FI kit.

I put in a wiseco 14:1 piston.....needs 94 octane to stop pinging. Also, leaned out idle 2% to get it idling better. I actually like the added power and was able to use a 49 tooth rear sprocket.

I put in a pro-circuit piston, tokyo mods ECU flash, mild porting and a pro-circuit exhaust. I think similar to stock, but more everywhere. It works awesome.

What shock oil did you use when rebuilding the shock, and what oil does kawasaki recommend? (2,5wt?)
Also, since this is my first shock without a schrader valve, how do you release the pressure with the needle? Just stick it in? Or is there a better way

I was with the suspension builder when he did mine. He just stuck a needle in and let the gas out. And used some red maxima shock fluid.
Hej also changed the shaft sealing and removed every shim and cleaned one by one an turned them around.

Here’s how i had the muffler bracket welded in case anyone needs ideas. Overkill but i’ve broken one and it’s a wasted riding day if it happens early in the day.

Got my brake disc cover from legacy carbon. Took about 3 weeks to come in. Perfect fit and finish. Also got my fork tubes coated.

I may be the minority, but have had two KX ecu’s flashed by Tokyo, and zero complaints

Of course my bike is heavily Modded with a Renthal bar pad and loose chain 😉
