No way, thats awesome.

Rideability is so underrated. Hooking up where others are spinning, not getting tired from the hard hitting power, smoother arcing lines, all that works to faster lap times and longer motos.

Could this be the 300 2t that everyone has been salivating over?

Certainly that model, it was shown in the previous teaser. I'm hoping a 480 4t Vet Weapon!

They have an XC line, but this small Moto community doesn’t recognize that as “MX” even though they are just as capable?

If it lost 30lbs it would be pretty perfect. But please lets not do another suzuki debate.

Pardon my ignorance but does Beta use the KTM frame? If so, will the chassis be much different than the KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas line of MX bikes?

You 'get' what I'm saying though- everyone loves rideability & smoothness, until it comes to a magazine shootout! Everyones pro-level when they're reading test shootouts in winter- its a different story in the middle of summer when its hot and the tracks are blue groove..

Agreed 100% i had a 2005 husky tc250 when it was italian and a 4 stroke 250f.

Shootouts would trash that bike so badly as being soooo slow etc etc.

I raced it for 2 seasons. Full exhaust and jd jetting kit and it was easily competitive. And i had one of my best motos ever on that bike. It was slick as heck and the way that engine made power i was hooked up and track felt nearly prime to me where as everyone else was tip toeing around and lighting up the tire.

Problem with the rmz though is the husky 450 power delivery is as good or better in that aspect, has e start, 20lbs lighter, better brakes etc etc.

Anyway definitly pumped for the beta release. Shootouts will likely trash it, basically just because its a beta and it isnt a yz or crf. Even while it might be the bike everyone's fastest on lmao.

Same as the shootout done on vital where a tm got dead last even tho it was head and shoulders better than the rest lol. Dead last because its a tm. Change the letters to yz and it would have won. Seen it so many times with the "underdog" brands.

You mean this one where they barely rode it and complained it was slow?

Thats the one. Where it made 14 more hp and weighed like 30lbs less than the rmz and still somehow lost to it lol.

Let alone made more power then every bike and weighed less than them all as well.

I swear dirtbike guys are the worst brand whores. Your bike brand turns out to not be the best and you freak out acting like shootouts are the worst thing.

How many of you are riding each year model bike back to back on the same track, and have enough experience to tell apart small changes to a bike? Not only that, some shootouts now have riders from many experience levels and sizes.

Should you take a shootout and live by it, no. How many times do the shootout intros now have to repeatedly say that because you guys are wackos about them. It’s a simple test, and you make of it what you want.

Good on them for giving it a crack, as we know brand loyalty can go a long way, the father is off road and the son may want to start with mx.

All I know is my dads new 19 beta 390 race edition is every bit as fast as my 19 kx 450 in a straight drag. The 390 feels like a xr200 motor wise and is such a easy bike to ride and go fast on it’s crazy.

They look like cool bikes. Since your dad has one, maybe you know why there is a 390 and a 430 and even a 480?

I’ll try lol The 390 is a long stroke engine which is extremely smooth to the point you’d believe it to be a super slow trail bike. It has virtually no engine braking handles like a 125 and feels like it weight wise while riding. By riding it you wouldn’t think it would be 450 fast but it is every bit of it. Honestly after 3 laps around our cross country loop with a few jumps I was faster on the 390 than my kx that is setup for gncc style racing and this is while it’s still in the break in period and no wide open throttle time. I was extremely impressed on how easy to go fast and what little energy I used while riding it was. I don’t have experience with the 430 I’ve only ridden the last year carb version 450 which I believe was a 2016 it felt heavy revved slow and was a chuggy bottom end style engine but it wasn’t a race edition only the dual sport. The newer 430 is supposed to have a more freely revving power plant and more responsive to be like a ktm 450xc. The 480 even more so is just a stronger version of the 430 with the same characteristics. Our dealer has time on all the Betas and says the 480 race is a handful. They are super nice bikes and Beta USA is awesome to deal with.

I agree with a lot of what you said. However, the small brands just never seem to get a fair shake in any shootout and I can see why they’d rather just not participate at all, because no matter how good the bike is it’s probably just going to come in last place anyways. Whether it’s that the riders have preconceived notions, the almighty advertising dollars, or whatever, coming in last place in a shootout is worse for business than not participating at all. Sometimes they deserve to come in last place because they have quirks that need addressing or that take some time to get used to, but in a lot of these shootouts you can read between the lines and see that the bike never stood a fair chance going into it.

One of the bikes in Vital's shootout was returned with 1hr. 15 minutes on the hourmeter. That included dyno time. With 5-6 riders that doesn't seem like enough time to learn anything.

People like to rag on MXA but they put the hours on the bikes, pass them around and race them. Beta is subjecting themselves to this evaluation, and they are up to it. KTM used to be an Enduro company too.
