We just finished putting together the first edition of the MSC's Flagger Safety training presentation. It's free to anyone that wants a copy and is an excellent tool for promoters, track owners, and race organizers to use for track-side training of flaggers - new and old. Print it out - put it in a binder with a sign-in sheet - and use it to train your flaggers.

Standardizing flagger training is one area where we can make a big difference in the safety of our riders. Please take the time to review the presentation and give us feedback on it.

You can download the entire presentation in either PowerPoint .(ppt) or as a .pdf document at www.mxsafety.org. Go the \"Educational Materials\" page for this and other downloads.

E-mail us at mxsafety@yahoo.com or post here to let us know what you think.

On behalf of the Motocross Safety Council,

Tom, Ricky Lee, Steve, Bill and Larry

Education is always a good thing. I would suggest recommendations on the \"mistake\" slide, such as suggested ways that promoters can keep flaggers from be coming spectators and or distracted. e.g. rotation, radio checks, reporting. Thank you for raising awareness to the issues.

Thanks for the feedback! We're thinking of adding a \"Promoter Suggestions\" section at the end of the presentation. Your suggestion would go well in either place. We'll incorporate it in the next revision.

Thanks,

Tom B.

Tom, nice update. The under influence of alcohol or drugs might be better served as a check-off or initial on the sign in sheet. I would think being specific to prescription medication that may slow your reflexes and or alergy medication that may make you drowsey should be included. I'll stop short of having a mobile lab testing facility!
Good work.
