Looking for good pictures of up close motocross gates and pictures inside the dog house to get ideas on how to build my own. Looking for a layout on how to efficiently raise and drop the gate. Preferably manual dropping system. Looking for metal and welded good moto gate layout. Thanks in advance!

To add to this , if you go to a Tractor supply they usually have scrap wood in the back that is typically used in packaging. You could use that as your base box. Then your only expense would be a few 2X4's and door hinges.

This is my 15 rider gate that I used for fair races. I'm only using 8 gates on my personal AX track now.

Do you have the measurements on the pieces that connect the two big angle irons. The flat piece that the pipe runs through Is what I’m talking about??

I have built a few gates ranging from 3-40 bikes. I’m only about 2 1/2 hrs from you.

A big change in gate design lately has been that instead of the pipe running through a hole cut in the flat, verticle pieces that run between the angle pieces is that some companies are now making that a U shaped cut out, and then lining it on the bottom side with half pieces of pipe (picture a rod bearing insert from car engine).

This is a much better design than the holes.

It allows repairs to be made on the pipe that works as a cam to lift the gates. It also simplifies installation because the frames can be put in and secured, and then the cam pipes and gate loops put in.

I ran races for 15 years and had up to 4 different tracks at the same time. Several were home made and there were alway small difference in hole placement on stuff like the gate loop mounting brackets.

We started welding 1/2" Coupler nuts at 90 degrees on the flat gate cams and then putting a carriage bolt in them to hit the gate.

This allowed each gate loop heighth to be adjusted so when the gate was cocked they would all be even.

I also did this on the gate used at muddy creek.

Finally, if you can get a fabrication shop to cut some plate steel it is,a good idea to make covers for the hole in the gate frame between 5he 2 pieces of angle. They need to be slightly smaller than the inside measurement of the gate loops.

This keeps you from having to do constant digging around the gate from and the cams.

I have all the bent gate pieces, also have the flat pieces that will connect the big angle iron. Just wanting to do a stomp dropping mechanism and not sure how to go about that.

We haven't used this gate since last winter, so I had to dig some grass away. The vertical flat bars are 16 inches. The gate cocker has the receptacle pipe and the locking tab welded on at a specific angle. You can adjust the gate height by drilling extra holes in the kicker arm. Of course all the dirt needs to be cleaned from around the main pipe so it can turn when the gates are dropped. The end of the kicker where it meets the tab needs to have a radius for smooth operation.
