I bought a new 2013 xlt with the 3.5 Eco boost 4 weeks ago. The 2nd day I owned it it ran really rough with no power and bad idle on my way home from work. I drove it a few more times and something just wasn't right with the engine and acceleration. Then last Saturday I loaded up my bike and was headed south on the 5 fwy and my new truck with 300 miles on the odometer lost all acceleration and power and rapidly slowed down and idled really rough that shook the truck. I pulled onto the shoulder and it never did run right. So I called Ford roadside assistance to tow my truck to a Ford dealer. Dealer has had my truck for 9 days now and they still don't know what the problem is. They ordered a new wiring harness for the fuel injection and will replace that tomorrow to see if that fixes it. If that doesn't fix it, I will have a serious discussion with the dealer GM to buy back my truck and give me my money back! Or will involve my Lawyer. First Ford I've ever owned and it's been a POS since the 2nd day I owned it. Not at all pleased with the F150 echo boost. Ford is paying for a rental truck until they fix my truck. I've now driven the 2014 Chevy 1500 Silverado LT more miles than I've driven my New F150. So far I prefer the Chevy, at least it runs!
Twiz,
Back in 1990 I had a Jeep Cherokee, spent a year trying to get them to fix a transmission problem.
After hearing a radio ad for a lemon law atty I called. He was new to the game at that time but is now
somewhat of a "big wig" in Lemon Law. He wrote one letter and within 7 days I was getting a check from
the manufacturer. http://www.californialemonlawattorneys.com/
He's in Rancho Bernardo, not to far south of you but distance really isn't an issue.
Best of luck, Even if they figure it out, they have a certain # of days they are allowed to have your truck in the shop.

Manny....here in the D it is always the "true believers" getting the "bean counters" to believe in a product program.

There have been times where the product guys prevail and dark times where the bean counters try to save enough to make the product profitable. In the case of trucks they have generated enormous cash flow so the product guys have a slightly easier path.

For those who haven't spent time involved with the inner workings of what makes Detroit tick (or not tick) it is one of the most convoluted, mixed up processes you might ever experience......and yet some really great product hits the streets in spite of the process.

This week and next here in Detroit are especially big as OEMs from around the world roll out there latest models. It really is a spectacle to watch the heads of some of the largest companies in the world all tell their tale for the upcoming model year. This is the time of year where each brand reinvents their version of sliced bread and proclaims it to be the very finest type available. Then the marketplace does it's job and the truth comes out........winners or losers, the consumer gets to decide.

It is a beautiful thing in a sort of bizarre way. Brutal but beautiful. If you like that capitalist, gearhead, marketing sort of stuff.

Nice.

What I'd last heard from the "power-train" guys was that there's an ongoing "power-plant" discussion...the Big-V8 has some strong support among the SVT types while the guys that deal with the numbers are talking Coyote and/or Turbos...but...

Turbos in the Baja...making more heat?

We'll see.

Me? I just love the idea of a lighter Raptor & I'd run a Coyote in Baja ALL day in std "Laguna-Seca" tune!

So, dear Detroit-Rock-City,

Give me a Damn Release Date and Build-Codes NOW!

Let's do this!

Just got a new 2013 F150 couple of weeks ago. Haven't been able to drive it as I've been stuck in a hospital bed for much of that time. It'll be a few months till I can drive it but I had an 06 with the 5.7 V8 and really liked it. The new one seems to have a shorter bed than the last one. I didn't want the long bed because if I need to get multiple bikes to the track I've got a trailer. New truck has the 5.0. Ford has so many rebates it was cheaper to buy new than used. There weren't as good of rebates for the ecoboost so it would have been several thousand more. I know, why get a truck when you can't drive it? They seem to be running out of 2013 trucks, and it was already hard to find the one I wanted. Sent the wife almost a hundred miles away to go get it.
TM
did you trade in your '06?

i would have driven my '06 into the ground but when i was in for my last service, i saw a sign saying they were desperate for '06-'08 F150's. my truck was in mint, near new condition and paid off. they gave me $17,600 trade in, this was in 2012. i bought it for $19k in 2008. four years and i only lost $1,400.

trading it in for a brand new '12 ecoboost was a no-brainer, especially when i got all the rebates and an employee discount from my friend that worked at the dealership. i ended up walking out the door with a brand new Lariat fully loaded for about $20k. i now have over 20k miles on it and have never been into the shop for anything but an oil change and rotate.

My '03 Silverado has 175k on the odometer and has never been in the shop, knock on wood The original rear brake pads finally wore out last month. The original front pads still have a lot of meat. A couple of batteries and sets of tires are all that the truck has required over the last 10 years.

I'll be getting another Chevy truck when this one is worn out, but that may take a while.

I just got me a 2012 Tundra and I love it. I have buddies with Tundras and they all love their's. Having said that, the Raptor's are some sweet trucks. If I could afford one, I'd be down buying one. I find the aluminum bodies interesting. I thought the aluminum would add $10,000 to the truck price. And with prices in the $40,000 for a decent model truck right now, adding another $10k seems to be pricing even more people out of the trucks. It'll be interesting to see what it does to the market changing over to the aluminum.

When I first got my truck it was like a sports car. I'm glad I got the extended warranty with it but I spent more time at the Ford Dealer with this truck than all my other vehicles combined in my lifetime.

Glad you got a good one personally I think it might be the luck of the draw.

I love my GMs; but, they ain't got a Raptor!

I could make my own Chevy/GMC ZR-Off-Roader...still...the Ford is just so Damn Good. I've got thousands of Off-Road miles in Raptors...Baja, V2R...all of it. With some 4" shocks and 37s a Raptor is a Poor-Man's Pre-Runner.

Meanwhile, my Small-Block-Bow-Tie's are my Daily-Drivers and they are ULTRA DEPENDABLE.

So, there's always that...

Btw, Raptors EAT Steering pumps if you don't take REALLY GOOD CARE of the Front-End.

No, somewhere around 2010 someone made a left on a red arrow in front of me. Insurance totaled truck and paid me 20K for truck. We bought it for 20.5K +tax last day of year in 06. So got most of money back. Bought a car for daughter and a shitty little Taco truck for me. Drove that around for the last few years. The new F150 XLT (super crew) after rebates was 30.5K otd, no trade in. Didn't really plan on getting a new truck right now but logistics kind of required it.

^^ Nice. 5.9 or 6.7? Kinda regret selling mine, but I wanted to invest in some rental properties. Bought it new in 07, last of the 5.9s. 6-spd, too. Guy in Texarkana, bought it. Only had 58,000 on it when I sold it. A buddy of mine has over 300,000 on his 07.5 6.7.

I have a Raptor now and I dont think its going to be that long of a wait, I've heard no more Raptors till 2016. With 2015 F150's already on display, they will hit showrooms in May/June, add a year to that and boom, new Raptor.

i went from the 2006 5.0 V8 to my 2012 Ecoboost and i can't even begin to describe how much better all around truck it is. i agree with you, i'm thinking it's the first year jitters. i have friends that moved from newer Chevy and Dodge V8s to the Eco and they all swear by them.

i put airbags in the rear end of mine and towing is absolutely no problem. my Eco will out-tow my '06 V8 any day of the week

@Drfletcher that sucks you are having so many problems. i had a couple small issues and Ford corrected them. i'm coming up on the end of my 36k warranty and am debating dropping a couple grand on the extension... nothing sucks like shelling money for items that would be taken care of in a warranty, and not having a warranty in the first place
How do you like the air bags? I have an 08 SCREW and I love it, but towing a 21' toy hauler can be a challenge. Trying to figure out what to do with the rear suspension.

Pick-ups are such a no-no over here though, so its hardly worth worrying about

You guys just don't understand the American truck buyers culture. Hell, neither do I. These micro beds are complete stupidity. The bozo's at Toyota don't get it either.....LOL. Toyota Tuff Block Challenge epic fail in front of 45,000 people.

Here, stand right here and no one will see!
Over here , whatever you have in the back of a truck will be gone if you dont lock it down, and putting a bike in the back of one is like driving round with a huge 'steal me tonight' sign.

Most guys here will run a minivan as a daily drive instead of a truck (pick up) , just for the security aspect and fuel economy... when you are paying $10 a gallon for fuel , having something that does 15mpg isnt a lot of use.

i love them, but i'm looking into a new way to run the hosing. for some reason where my hose runs into my connector it leaks off after a week or two. all i have to do is pull the hosing out, clean it off, and plug it back in. i've been thinking of throwing an onboard compressor in, but that's more convenience than necessity.

just keep in mind (you're no dummy so this probably goes without saying) your truck is still only rated for so much weight. the airbags offer a ton of stability and keep your truck from sagging with a trailer.

that said, i absolutely love my airbags. i tow my 24' Reinell loaded up steep inclines and canyons with no issues. same with a camp trailer of the same length. my truck pulls both better than my brother in law's 2500HD Chev (his words).

here's the kit i bought Firestone Ride Rite

A new F150 is in my future. Those are badass!
1/14/2014 11:31am
They have a 5.0 F150 now? No more 5.4? Whats the Eco boost, a 3.5 or 3.6?

Personally, I think they should put the 5.4 or 6.2 in an Eco Boost fashion into the F250.

I'd ditch the diesel for that.

Newman, I think I just say a F150 Ecoboost with a Crew Cab and a real short bed +/-6' (not the stubby 5 footer or whatever it is.

Toyota needs the Crew Max with a real shortbed also.

I have both a van and a pickup. Bought a new 2013 Toyota tacoma back in march and depending on how the new F150 holds up I will buy a 2016 Ford, now if they turn out to be junk with lots of problems I will consider all makes. I never haul a bike in my pickup, that is what the van is for Wink

To be honest, I will always own a truck. I just love the versatility, the ability to get anywhere with 4 wheel drive and they look badass. Do I hate putting gas in mine? Yup, sure do. But not enough to get rid of it for something else that gets better gas mileage. And for my job, a vehicle with 4 wheel drive is a must. I would love to get a van but only as an additional vehicle.

20k for a new truck? That's extremely cheap. In Washington State they are selling base model F150s for about 30k.

I'd spend 20k in a heart beat if I found that deal.

Can't live without a truck. Use it too much for work. My 2001 Ford F250 4x4 Crew Cab 7.3 turbo diesel with 187,000 miles on it has been great. Not without a few issues, but still a great truck. It does only get 15 miles per gallon but considering my son's Toyota Tacoma V6 only gets 16-17 mpg, I consider myself doing pretty well. You can haul anything that will fit in the bed (and I do, regularly). If it won't fit in the bed you can drag it on or in a trailer (which I have done for quite a few years. The whole family fits comfortably inside. It has a manual transfer case so it can be put in neutral and dragged behind the motorhome(which I'd like to do more.....).

Just this weekend she died on me while on my way to work. Come to find out the fuel pickup tube in the fuel tank has a rubber end with a nylon mesh screen on it that had deteriorated and fallen apart. Fuel got low and wouldn't pick up so I was stranded. Had I known I could have added a few gallons and been on my way instead of getting towed in. Had to pull the bed off(beats dropping the tank) to swap the part but she's humming again! While it was dead, and I had to get to my "other " job, I had the wrecker drop it off at our shop and I got our shop truck and headed out. Shop truck is a 1/2 ton short bed Chevy with a toolbox in the bed. Makes it about the size of those micro beds everyone seems to want. I had to make two trips all the way across town hauling what I needed. Sucked.

I had planned on keeping it ten years but that's come and gone. Doing my part to save the planet by not requiring Ford to build me another one.....Smile Next stop, 15 years or 250,000 miles. Love thy truck....

But not enough to get rid of it for something else that gets better gas mileage. And for my job, a vehicle with 4 wheel drive is a must. I would love to get a van but only as an additional vehicle.
My V10 Dodge ram . That thing ran great but talk about drinking gas. Blush

I love my Raptor & haven't one issue with it at all. It pulls my 16' enclosed very heavy trailer like nothing & in my opinion is probably the best looking production truck ever produced by any manufacturer. It is seriously one badass truck.

I like the Ford raptor and the FX4 , I don't like chrome bumpers and grills on the other models but I want leather and all the luxury on the inside and of course 4wd and a automatic transmission. I could not find either the Raptor or FX4 with everything I wanted in inventory at any of the Larry Miller dealerships at the time and didn't want to order because it was a last minute decision when I got my 2013 but when I decide what truck I want to get in 2016 I will order it.
