Back in 1990 I had a Jeep Cherokee, spent a year trying to get them to fix a transmission problem.
After hearing a radio ad for a lemon law atty I called. He was new to the game at that time but is now
somewhat of a "big wig" in Lemon Law. He wrote one letter and within 7 days I was getting a check from
the manufacturer. http://www.californialemonlawattorneys.com/
He's in Rancho Bernardo, not to far south of you but distance really isn't an issue.
Best of luck, Even if they figure it out, they have a certain # of days they are allowed to have your truck in the shop.
TM
There have been times where the product guys prevail and dark times where the bean counters try to save enough to make the product profitable. In the case of trucks they have generated enormous cash flow so the product guys have a slightly easier path.
For those who haven't spent time involved with the inner workings of what makes Detroit tick (or not tick) it is one of the most convoluted, mixed up processes you might ever experience......and yet some really great product hits the streets in spite of the process.
This week and next here in Detroit are especially big as OEMs from around the world roll out there latest models. It really is a spectacle to watch the heads of some of the largest companies in the world all tell their tale for the upcoming model year. This is the time of year where each brand reinvents their version of sliced bread and proclaims it to be the very finest type available. Then the marketplace does it's job and the truth comes out........winners or losers, the consumer gets to decide.
It is a beautiful thing in a sort of bizarre way. Brutal but beautiful. If you like that capitalist, gearhead, marketing sort of stuff.
What I'd last heard from the "power-train" guys was that there's an ongoing "power-plant" discussion...the Big-V8 has some strong support among the SVT types while the guys that deal with the numbers are talking Coyote and/or Turbos...but...
Turbos in the Baja...making more heat?
We'll see.
Me? I just love the idea of a lighter Raptor & I'd run a Coyote in Baja ALL day in std "Laguna-Seca" tune!
So, dear Detroit-Rock-City,
Give me a Damn Release Date and Build-Codes NOW!
Let's do this!
The Shop
i would have driven my '06 into the ground but when i was in for my last service, i saw a sign saying they were desperate for '06-'08 F150's. my truck was in mint, near new condition and paid off. they gave me $17,600 trade in, this was in 2012. i bought it for $19k in 2008. four years and i only lost $1,400.
trading it in for a brand new '12 ecoboost was a no-brainer, especially when i got all the rebates and an employee discount from my friend that worked at the dealership. i ended up walking out the door with a brand new Lariat fully loaded for about $20k. i now have over 20k miles on it and have never been into the shop for anything but an oil change and rotate.
I'll be getting another Chevy truck when this one is worn out, but that may take a while.
Glad you got a good one personally I think it might be the luck of the draw.
I could make my own Chevy/GMC ZR-Off-Roader...still...the Ford is just so Damn Good. I've got thousands of Off-Road miles in Raptors...Baja, V2R...all of it. With some 4" shocks and 37s a Raptor is a Poor-Man's Pre-Runner.
Meanwhile, my Small-Block-Bow-Tie's are my Daily-Drivers and they are ULTRA DEPENDABLE.
So, there's always that...
Btw, Raptors EAT Steering pumps if you don't take REALLY GOOD CARE of the Front-End.
Most guys here will run a minivan as a daily drive instead of a truck (pick up) , just for the security aspect and fuel economy... when you are paying $10 a gallon for fuel , having something that does 15mpg isnt a lot of use.
just keep in mind (you're no dummy so this probably goes without saying) your truck is still only rated for so much weight. the airbags offer a ton of stability and keep your truck from sagging with a trailer.
that said, i absolutely love my airbags. i tow my 24' Reinell loaded up steep inclines and canyons with no issues. same with a camp trailer of the same length. my truck pulls both better than my brother in law's 2500HD Chev (his words).
here's the kit i bought Firestone Ride Rite
Pit Row
Personally, I think they should put the 5.4 or 6.2 in an Eco Boost fashion into the F250.
I'd ditch the diesel for that.
Newman, I think I just say a F150 Ecoboost with a Crew Cab and a real short bed +/-6' (not the stubby 5 footer or whatever it is.
Toyota needs the Crew Max with a real shortbed also.
i'm selling an SCT Programmer for my Ecoboost if anyone is interested. $245 (379 originally) very lightly used and has 4 pre-loaded tunes.
made my truck an absolute monster towing and general performance. if you're interested PM me
I'd spend 20k in a heart beat if I found that deal.
Just this weekend she died on me while on my way to work. Come to find out the fuel pickup tube in the fuel tank has a rubber end with a nylon mesh screen on it that had deteriorated and fallen apart. Fuel got low and wouldn't pick up so I was stranded. Had I known I could have added a few gallons and been on my way instead of getting towed in. Had to pull the bed off(beats dropping the tank) to swap the part but she's humming again! While it was dead, and I had to get to my "other " job, I had the wrecker drop it off at our shop and I got our shop truck and headed out. Shop truck is a 1/2 ton short bed Chevy with a toolbox in the bed. Makes it about the size of those micro beds everyone seems to want. I had to make two trips all the way across town hauling what I needed. Sucked.
I had planned on keeping it ten years but that's come and gone. Doing my part to save the planet by not requiring Ford to build me another one..... Next stop, 15 years or 250,000 miles. Love thy truck....
