You just can't compare a 300cc enduro bike to a true motocross engine. I rode a friend's 300 EXC and it felt a lot slower then my SX 250. But a true 300 motocross engine, like KTM's SXS kit would be really interesting, can't wait to see that bike.
This. My Husky WR300 felt hardly faster than my CR144, but handled like a dump truck by comparison. Grunty and tractable for woods riding but way too sleepy for MX.

The real question is will US dealers get these new bikes or will they have to wait until 2015?

Man I never realized how much Waters looks like Toby Price haha. He will do well next year.

I'm with you on being excited about the new 300cc two stroke.

In July I went riding with some hardcore single track guys. The guy who invited me was on a 300cc KTM and his buddy was on a 250cc GasGas plus had a spare 250cc GasGas in his truck. Alex who also had two more GasGas bikes in his garage at home was excited about the new 300cc Beta he had on order.

It will be interesting to see who else attends this 300cc party in the coming years.
Totally, personally I feel the 300cc idea for us weekend muppets, should be a enduro version engine, since few people can even take the hit of a 250 smoker. For me as a B-rider, I would totally tune down the hit of a 250 cc, but I guess I'm a slow B! Smile I also wonder about a 300 cc as a race bike, how many race teams will make them 60 hp + pipey, rather than close to 50 hp and more low end grunt?

Luongo said the 300 thing was more of a marketing thing than there was a need for 50 cc extra.

Either way, this whole idea makes me smile. I hope people will fall in line, and that the class will prosper.

Could we see the 300cc class replace MX2 across the pond and the 250 class in the states. The cost of a running 250F race team is freaking insane.

Best thing that could happen to the 250 class in the states is have it be a true development class with sealed stock motors and have the 300cc class be the works class. Okay I will wake up from my dream now since none of this will ever happen.

I like your dream. But I don't see that happen, I don't wish for it either. A 250-300 smoker is way to much for those stepping up from amateurs, or those that are aiming for that class that now goes 250F which is more rider friendly for a skinny kid. These 300 cc smokers should be some side kick thing for the premier class.

If I could choose, I would like to see a real 125 class again on a pro level. Everybody can ride them, except some Ken DeDycker type of guy or whatever...

Until that happens, I'm happy with these 125, and 300 cc European champ classes that are some stepping stone to the GPs...

White Pit mentioned, was hoping they'd be the burgundy color of the old 360's from back in the '70's .

Sounds intriguing all around.

I'm happy that there will be another brand to choose from and another legit team in the paddock.

While Husky will have a bigger prescence in MX, there's really one less brand to choose from now. Husqvarna as we know it is now dead, Husaberg is now called Husqvarna and is expanding its model range. Less choices, not more.

The only thing going away for Husaberg is the name. Husaberg will be better than ever. They'll just be sold under the Husqvarna name at Husqvarna dealers. It's Husqvarna that will be missed.

True enough , I guess my impression was that Husky's MX range wasn't viewed in a very good light and with KTM taking over we should see more out there.

I get what you are saying - guess it's the same as auto brands sharing the same platform and just slapping their own badges on.

That's hilarious!
