6'2". '21 KX450. Move bar mounts to front hole with rear offset. Move peg mounts to lower position. No mods needed. I do have a longer hammerhead shifter, but after recently ditching Tech 10's and going with SIDI, it's too long.

Question for the really tall guys…how do higher bars make you feel less cramped? Wouldn’t having the bars further away from you open the cockpit more than moving them closer to you (by raising them up)?

I can see moving the bars further forward would open things up…but raising them up (closer to you) seems, logically, to make things more cramped? Or am I missing something?
Its because some humans who have long arms also have long torsos that move our shoulders further away from the seat. Short bars make us hunch over more.

So it's not about opening up the cockpit, to make you less cramped...its about making it smaller? (bringing the bars closer to you shrinks the cockpit)...and making you...more...cramped?

I wonder if there is a rule of thumb ... like, when standing on bike fully upright do your hands reach the bars? If not, what's an "ideal" gap between hands and bars to get you in a comfortable attack riding position? Adjust ergos accordingly.

It seems like when I see short guys standing, they very easily reach the bars. For me when standing, I have to bend at the waist / knees quite a bit to get to the bars, let alone in a good attack position. Legs and torso negate the reach from longer arms.

I have a 15mm taller seat on my YZ450F and the stock seat on my WR250F, big difference in comfort overall however I prefer the stock seat while riding enduro. Pro Taper SX Race bars on both which is the stock bend anyway.

It’s mainly for comfort when you’re riding stood up, I have to be on the pegs 80% of the time when I’m riding cause it’s the most comfortable position for me. My legs get in the way too much when I’m sat down lol. Go watch videos of benny bloss riding & you’ll understand, he runs tall bars too.

Benny Bloss does not run tall bars. DF14 and Tomac look to have the tallest bars.

6’-4” here and have been running the KX high bars for years…No other changes. Pro Taper offers them in the Contour lineup. For me having the right height (taller than stock) and bend helped eliminate blisters and arm pump.

6'1, stock is always fine for me. I stand a lot and really use my legs when I ride, though.

6'2 here on a KTM

I run the standard bars in the forward position with a bar riser. Before this I would constantly bump my knee of the bars and I look very hunched over until I did this.

I also run the Fastway lower pegs which feel much better and I don't notice them hitting ruts anymore than before.

I got a taller seat to try but much prefer the original seat and am going to revert.

I think it's kinda a trail and error situation for everyone as 2 guys the same height might have different length legs, torsos or arms which will effect how each contact point feels.

Titan has it right. When you run tall bars, you are actually moving them closer to your body and more rearward, due to the angle of the triple clamp. This is why I run my handlebar clamps in one of the forward positions; it helps me stretch out my long arms and helps me stand more easily. Stock bar positions make me feel like I have my hands in my lap, even while sitting.
