For what it's worth - I read, and contributed to this thread in its original form. I scoffed at the MXA statement about the best 250 two-stroke ever. However, as things turned out, I ended up buying a 2012 KTM250SX early this year. I believe they nailed it. This is the best 250 two-stroke I have ever ridden. I plan to make it a 300 but it's so good as a 250 I'm afraid to mess with it.

I agree with you. It's a sweet bike. Hard decision to modify or not.

This is me riding the 2013 model this past weekend. Listen to motor closely how I lug it. I changed the needle to a RM 250 necj and put a FMF shorty on. I am in the 40B class and they lined us up with 25A, 30A, 40A and 30B- 18 450s on the line with me. The 25A passes me and the 30A in the orange prisons suit rams me at the top and rips his spokes out. I am a crap rider but it was awesome to get the grate start and win my class and beat all 30B also. Skip to .59 for the start. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4LTAx8Bo3g

I am so on the fence...just rode my buddies '13 and it feels pretty awesome. I am in the market to possibly sell my 09 yz and go for a '13 yz or '13 ktm this year. Both rad bikes!

I'll second the 12-13 KTM250SXs for best 2 stroke ever made. I have ridden & raced them all at one time or another & the KTM is head & shoulders the best 250 2 stroke ever made. I installed the 300SXS kit around a month & actually had to bite the bullet & get the suspension done. Factory Connection has some new WP settings that they did on my stuff & oh my did they nail it. The suspension works awesome & now with the 300 kit this is the best 2 stroke ever. I've ridden a number of 500AFs & they are fun but they definitely require to much skill & a definite judicious approach to how & when you twist the throttle. The 300 is perfect & way way easier to ride than service Honda 500AF.

Yeah you don't want to have to shell out an extra $30 to safeguard it, or let the dealer perform the free recall. Excellent reasoning tonot buy one of these.

Before 2013 KTM would turn a blind eye to the problem but now they have done a recall its about time. I certainly would safeguard it.

they did something in 2013 because domino supplied a new housing in 2013 for ktm's and 2012 for husabergs.

if you had a problem with the throttle sticking on the older bikes, IMO, its user error.

I always laugh when MXA has trouble removing the gas cap on KTM's. Seriously, it's not that hard...
