I remember those bikes. Detonated like hell if my memory servers me right.
Was a huge step backwards from that wonderful '83 CR480.

Hilarious review! Reminds me of the '82 YZ465 I had.

I had the '83 480 and laughed at my buddy who sold it to me to get the 500. That '83 had a wonderful motor....but those brakes....holy crap. It was like grabbing a handful of sponge, with about the same effect. That left-side kickstart was about the only other thing I didn't like about it. Rode my friend's 500, smiled, handed it back to him, and jumped back on my 480, grinning from ear-to-ear.

I traded two shotguns to a guy for one in 1985.....what a pile........I wish I still had those Remingtons....

Bought a new CR500 in 1986. Wonderful bike.

jtom...in '82 Yamaha was a YZ490. Had one of those as well. It liked to eat kickstarter gears and break engine cases while doing so...
