Is everyone getting the medium roof and long wheel base (148) ?

is the short roof small wheel base the same size as a standard e150 or e250 was?

Cant decide which size to get, both have pro's and con's.

Also, which engine are most people opting for, the 3.5 eco boost or 3.7 normal one?

I can get a medium roof, long wheel base, 3.5 eco , 2015 with 10,000 miles for about $27k? Or I could get a 2016 normal height and length with 10,000 miles for about $22k with the 3.7 engine....

I don't own one personally. But we have a low roof passenger at my work that I drive and I have driven the medium roof. IMO I'd go medium roof all day. Kind of the same thought with a trailer, you will always want more room. I am 6' and the ability to stand in the medium roof makes all the difference, as well as a lot more room for gear. I also noticed that the medium roof lwb was surprisingly easy to drive and maneuver. My wife even prefers the medium. Hope this helps.

Edit. I also found that some medium roof passenger models have a plastic floor. We pop the seats out in ours at work regularly to haul gear. The medium roof passenger makes for a perfect crew van platform.

Medium roof medium length works great. I have a seat/bed behind the front seats and a partition with bikes in the back. Lots of room.
Stock engine with tow package works well also.

By medium do you mean 130 or 148 wheel base?

I like the big one. (Australian model)

Queen size bed at loading height

At sleeping height.
It goes a lot lower if the bike isn't in.

X2. The medium roof normal wheelbase is perfect, can stand inside and you can also fit a 2nd row seat in there and still have room for 2 bikes behind them.

What do you mean by normal wheel base? The shortest one (130)? Or the (148)?

I bought the medium roof 148 with the standard v6 in March of this year. I drive it daily and average 17-18mpg. I'm 6' and my head barely graze the interior frame. I for the most part love it.
The engine did take a shit at 618 miles.
I will take some pics here shortly. I haven't done much but put a seat in.

I'm not sold on the Risk Racing tie down system. I kinda wished I moved the back seat forward 4-5". Kids hate it not having windows. I gave them the choice of tvs or a window and both said window.
Wheels are tough to find since it's a weird bolt pattern.
I'm not sure about putting up a wall or not. I put up Dexter curtain so you can't see what's in there.
I bought a new 16 with a 125k bumper to bumper extended warranty and rolled over $1500 from my 15 Tundra and was $33,000 otd.

Mine (again, Australian model) is 148" wheelbase.
I ordered the "long" version, and the wheelbase is the same, but it has a huge overhang.
It's the worst thing about the van - scrapes its ass on every driveway.

I have only driven the 148" wheelbase Transits. Have driven both the normal and jumbo length 148" wheelbase versions. Both are about as maneuverable as a pickup truck, and handle better than both trucks and Econolines.

If you want to have the 2nd row seats and then bikes behind those I would get the 148" wheelbase medium roof.

I just picked up a high roof extended length transit about 3 weeks ago. About to start building it out. I was originally planning on getting the medium roof extended model, but this one was too good of a deal to pass up. It has the ecoboost engine in it - the computer says it's getting 16 mpg at the moment. I really haven't driven it much yet to see how accurate that is, but I assume it won't change much. This ecoboost engine rips - it's got a ton of power and is fun to drive. I'm glad I ended up with the high roof because I have some ideas on how to build some shallow cabinets up top that I think will come in real handy. Here it is in it's bare glory:

Good luck - make sure to post pics of your build when you get one!

That thing is a monster. The ecoboost has to be a rocket because the 3.7 v6 moves pretty good even loaded.

Made a impulse buy on a 17 f250. Handles like crap, sucks driving. Tail gate is so high, it's like it's a 6" lift on it, but all stock. Hard loading a bike for sure. So think I may take a loss and pull the trigger on the medium roof lwb transit.

Also who did y'all finance threw?

I originally tried buying one and my bank (navy federal) wouldn't do the loan since they considered it commercial. So went with a f250

Makes no since, can buy a f250 but not a 2500 van.

I won't be buying brand new this time. Found the van on vroom.com

This is the one I plan on getting. 2015 medium roof, 148 wheel base, 3.5 eco boost, 11k miles. They just lowered it from 27,420 to 25,980. Then there's like $350 in fees, so would be like $26,300 OTD dilevered. No tax since I'm trading in a 17 f250 that's worth more (loosing quite a bit lol)

Hopefully I can finance through one of there people at a decent rate.

Anyone ever use vroom.com?

Looks sweet! I financed mine through a local credit union. I tried to get it done through my bank, and they wouldn't do it because it was a "commercial vehicle". Screw the big banks, I went into the local credit union, which I wasn't even a member of, and they had the loan approved in about 20 minutes. I know you said you had problems with Navy Federal, is there a different credit union or smaller, local bank in your area that you could try? One thing that might help - I told them that I was going to title it in my name as a private vehicle, so whether or not it was commercial when I bought it, it would be private when I got it. I'm not sure if that had any impact on their ability to finance it, but it can't hurt.

What kind of bed frame is that? Homemade or something that's for sale? Would love to see how it works exactly. I've been wanting to come up with something like this.

Go to a local credit union. Navy Federal is a complete joke. I always use my mother in laws company CU and they never question anything.

I saw somebody get the long version stuck just trying to leave the gravel parking lot at GlenHelen. That stupid long rear overhang dug into the ground on a little dip. Hilarious

Home made.
I have detent pins I put through the bits that slide up/down. I just have to drill a set of holes at whatever height I want to hold the bed.
The hardest bit of the design was making the bed frame telescope, so it lengthens as you raise/lower one end first.
If it wasn't for the electrical duct on the wall, I would have made it raise to the roof. The "loading" pic is as high as it goes. But I can lift the bed frame out to get a full van back.
I usually take a trailer if I want to camp in the van.

So worked our the deal on the transit at vroom.com

They use like 30 different banks to shop around and get the best rate. Apparently only 3 of them would do the loan since it's commercial.

I have almost a 800 credit score and the best rate was 6.5%, then they called up the bank and got them to come down to 5.5%. My credit union navy federal would probaly had been 1.9% but they don't do commercial.

Scored a new seat out of a transit for $160 yesterday. The guy said there wasn't no mounts that they're built in to the van they came from? I bought one a year back and they came with the mounts pictured bellow ($70 on eBay). The seat looks the same, only difference is there's no big tab on the back of the seat mounts to pull up to take out?

Can someone verify if these mounts pictured will work? Also, are all transit mounts the same?

If the seat came out of the Transit you should be good. I'm pretty sure there's only one mount. You have to drop the fuel tank for the driver side mount.

That sucks about your financing. I have a low 700's and mine rate was 2.49%. My buddy had to lie and say it was a passenger van to get his bank to do it.

Dropping the gas tank doesn't sound too appealing. I've probaly put 5 or so seats in the old Ford econoline and Chevy vans, never had to do that.

So the seat has three mounts, I'll be able to access under neath for the middle and passenger mount, but the fuel tank will be in the way of the driver side one? How hard is it to drop the fuel tank? Maybe just actually bolt down the middle one and passenger side one? Lol

I didn't use the center mount, I took it off.
Dropping the tank wasn't bad but my buddy that owes a repair shop helped. I have to drop the tank again to replace the piece of steel I used for the seat and I'm
fairly confident I can do it myself with a floor jack. You only have to drop it 3-4 inches.
