Youth MX Boots

I have 7 and 8 year old boys. The boots will most likely get worn by both boys as they grow, so 1 pair of new boots covers 2 kids each.
Looking at Tech 7s vs Answer AR1 boots. Is there a big differences between these? I want them to be comfy, so they dont mind wearing them.

They like the looks of the AR1s and they are cheaper, but ordering online i would have more confidence in the comfort of the tech 7. Is this accurate or no. Ive been wearing tech 8s for years.

Our experiences so far are Astars are garbage. Mine really liked Gaerne's he had before and he has a pair of Acerbis right now and really likes them and they were super cheap. I'm not about to buy high end boots until he stops growing.

This. We bought our son the SGJ from Gaerne and he loves them. I highly recommend them.

What about answer AR1 boots? Ive seen those for like 90 new.

The Tech 7s look good, how are they bad boots? Ive also seen them for good prices.

Never had an answer boot but we bought those Acerbis for way cheaper than $90.

What a good price on the SGJ? I just found some for 120.

Where are you guys finding good prices?

I figured the Tech 7 and SGJ were about the same quality. Is this a chevy/ford thing? The Tech 7 at least in adult size i thiought were comfy.

Unless your kids race two classes every weekend, they are not going to destroy boots. They'll be grown out of them far before that. (Maybe by the time the younger kid finishes with them, they'll be worn out.) I'd go with the less-expensive ones until they get into their teens and can tell the difference.

I'd look at the Tech 3s boot as it has a removable insole that takes it down a size. So if you order say a 3, the insole makes it a 2. So you basically get twice the life out of them.

The answer ar-1 boot is an entry level boot, the tech 7 is a higher level boot, same as the gaerne sgj. The alpinestar tech 3 would be closer to the ar-1.
My son is 8 and rides pretty often and grows out of tech 3's before he wears them out. Unless your kids really ride hard or don't take care of their gear I don't see why you couldn't get both boys through a set of tech 3's or 7's.

As for comfort, to me alpinestar make the most comfortable boot on the market, my boy has never complained about his until they get too small

VEry helpful guys. They dont ride that much, yet. Im sure both will wear each pair, so Im a little less concerned about the price because of that.

The tech 7 sounds to be a comfortable boot, and is probably the safest bet. Im still looking at others including the SGJ. Sucks buying online since nobody has this stuff in store.

Another for the Astars Tech 3. Not sure about the "they are garbage comment". They are not being worn by pro riders. My daughter is 9 and son is 7 and they both have these. They seem to be comfortable for them and are showing very little wear with regular rides at mx tracks. The interchangeable inserts are a big plus as the 2 boots cover 4 successive sizes.

Alpinestars tend to wear out quicker than gaerne or siding so they sometimes get a bad rap. This is generally with adults or bigger, faster kids. My experience with my son's boots is they have still been in good condition when he grew out of them

My garbage comment comes from them not lasting me at all on the couple pairs I've had over the years and my boy had some when he was on 50s. I mean little 50s PWs and mini adventure. They just fell apart lasted no time and I am very big on stuff being taken care of. I wear Sidis and have for years they are the best. He has tried on some Astars of friends at the track a time or 2 and said they aren't nearly as comfortable as those Acerbis are.
