Oh yes many times but it has been a long time ago, maybe 25 years since then. I probably have a picture of my old Z1R along that shore somewhere. Enjoy those rides Bro....

Here is what it looks like up here today.

That picture is at the Potholes Reservoir in Eastern Washington taken from the O'Sullivan Dam.

Here is what the Frenchman Hills Wasteway looks like this morning, (Frozen Solid)

That area is actually a lot "drier" than the Mesa area. Eastern Washington is a true desert, but it definitely gets 4 (or more it sometimes feels like) seasons.

Royal City only averages about 7.5 inches of precip a year.
Wenatchee averages about 9.1
Mesa averages about 9.3

So why do they call it "Frenchman Hills Wasteway"?

What years did you live in AZ?

It's a wasteway. It's where the "excess" irrigation water flows to the next reservoir. This one flows into the Potholes Reservoir.

The Winchester and Frenchman hills wasteways were created when the dams and irrigation system were built as part of the Columbia River Project under the Bureau of Reclamation during the FDR admin. Not only provide water for the farmers but Loaded with Walleye, Bass and other fish and provide habitat for birds and deer. Love it here.
I left Az on a 3 month road trip in 91 Cool

Not really a slough it's fed from the canal system and is like a man-made stream or river

I think about 99% of the Columbia Basin Project is "man made", but part of the Frenchman wasteway is using natural waterways that were usually only seasonal at best, if I remember correctly.

A lot of people don't appreciate the beauty of that place, but the history and geography are incredibly interesting to me. I remember studying about the project during school for our state history classes, but you never get the full magnitude of it till you've spent a bunch of time hiking and driving up the coulees and the scablands.

I've spent days taking my kids out tracing the Missoula Flood trails, if that sort of thing doesn't fill you with awe, nothing will!

speaking of brutal storms... here's a couple pics from my last long ride in September. got a gnarly storm the night before our planned ride of 400 miles in 2 days. the storm didn't keep us from going, just had to think twice about our gear of choice lol. hard to believe all these pics were over a 48 hour period

Oh yea I luv Washington/Oregon around the Columbia River Gorge area. Miss the many trips to Washougal over the years.

Last summer went to a wedding in that area (Oregon) and the next day took a drive up the old Columbia Hwy which was very cool. If there was another place to live for me that might be it.

Stopped at the Fish Ladder which was amazing to see.

If anyone is up around the WA/OR area in June, this might be interesting. I've never been to an event, but came through one weekend when one was wrapping up and kicked myself for not coming by earlier in the day! It's a skateboard/luge style of gravity competition, and the course is supposed to be the best in the world. It's located south of Goldendale just north of the Oregon border, the Maryhill road. It's just a little east of the Eddieville/Starvation Ridge track area.

Picked up a clean 525EXC this summer and put about 900 miles on her. The first day was a brisk 22 degrees full of rain sleet and snow, the second day creeped into the 50s and nothing but sunshine.

Speaking of brutal storms.......

This is our current advisory. I was traveling north from Wenatchee late this afternoon and my windshield was icing up even with my defrost on high!
