I got a Nook for my bday and have at 4 or 5 books on it that somehow i need to find the time the read.

The flower thing is called a Mum, the first two symbols are 9's and the last symbol means "type" there are other little marking by the serial number that tell you where it was made and what type it is. When the Japs lost they ground off the Mum on the the the they handed over. If you have the full Mum that means it was most likely a war capture. The bayonets are cool, I need to find one for it.
But the thing I would like to find the most was my grandads diary, he landed on D-Day and kept a diary of every single day until the war ended, he lost it after the war but my god I would love to read that.
The Shop
The story that sticks out the most with my grandad, was that during the advance through Europe, him and a german soldier both the same age (early 20s) stumbled across each other, both pulled their gun on the other one and they just stood pointing their guns at each other for a few minutes, neither pulled the trigger in the end and went opposite ways.
One pilot was flying with his wing man bombing Japs in the hillsides softening them up for invasion. Wingman got hit and crash landed on an airfield. My customer flew his plane down and landed to pick up his buddy. The Japs on the airfield didn't realize they were American until he was taking back off with his buddy. Got the Navy Cross for that one.
Another customer was dropped behind lines on D day he was only 1 of 2 in the whole platoon who made it back to American lines. He retired with over 1500 military jumps and fighting in 3 wars.

top one won't embed, these are a couple of programmes i liked recently
always been facinated with ww1 ww2
Kept a diary too. The funny thing is, because he came from middle classy type background, when you read the diary he actually writes in the classic cliche way a lot of them talked back then e.g - "jolly good show" etc. Bit like George from Black Adder. Funny stuff but also inspiring. Those guys had testicles the size of water melons. Kinda makes all my efforts in life feel like crap in comparison tbh.
WW1 - https://youtu.be/yWJB6Y-3N5o (on the guys youtube channel he has all the episodes)
WW2 is the world at war series. (i cant find it on youtube)
Very cool Crash! Is it safe to shoot? I had bought my boy a very nice Springfield M1 for his gun collection, it was used in WW2 but was still very good shape and had all original tools under the buttstock plate. While he was going to college at A&M he donated it to the Corps Museum for their display collection.
Thank you for the heads up Scottie.

Wow! that's a crass statement, even for you Crash. 50 million dead and countless other lives shattered for ever, truly awesome and soooo much fun.
"The flower thing is called a Mum"
You've sure done your homework too. The "flower thing" is a Chrysanthemum. In Imperial Japan, small arms were required to be stamped with the Imperial Chrysanthemum, as they were considered the personal property of the Emperor.

when you cock the hammer the cylinder slides forward to seal against the barrel.
as usual turn up late and take the glory..it started in 39
Maybe "just in time" to turn that little scrimmage completely around....
Oh, and make sure the Lommel vids are from 1982....
In terms of help on the field though, I think that honour goes to the Russians.
Go have another scone with tea and chill.
Almost a half a million USA homeboys (many who lied about their age and were minors) enlisted and died across the pond to save YOUR ass from the Third Reich and you wanna make light of that?
the allies on both side should be respected
and all the fallen who gave their lives for freedom
Can you even fathom what kinda man it takes to voluntarily advance on the beaches at Normandy knowing youre gonna get mowed down like hay from concrete German pill-boxes? That is doing it "for the glory"?

Anyone who wants to minimize the USA's contribution to that clusterfuck as glory-seeking can kiss my American ass.
