I'm going to take Rossi's side on this. He's got one year left on his contract and its now or never as far as shaking things up to make something work. Yeh, it may be that Rossi's lost a step but he has to try something to reinvigorate himself.
While WSBK is getting closer to MotoGP in terms of electronics, it's the issue that all of the best GP riders have with the class....Not to say things would change much if electronics were mitigated, just that I would LOVE to see Rossi, Stoner,Hayden, and Spies on Superbikes!
I guess this would mean an end to the big money these guys make in MotoGP, but they all have the same issues with the GP bikes. I wonder why none of them have made that step down to SBK? Much like how the old generation of riders have been dealing with the electronic control, the old school crew chiefs might be out of their league now, as well....unable to tweak for the advance traction control and other devices the bikes now have.
Crazy how things have changed, even when you buy a stock bike now. Back in 2001, the R1 was a very fast, but manageable bike, even with exhaust, jetting, and intake (about 140hp.) In 2005, the R1 with exhaust, power commander, and filter was just a beast, I'm guessing the bike was about 175HP. While being a small dude and (obviously) not as skilled...something like that would be awesome to see the BEST ride. Now, the bikes come standard with TCS and other systems, and I get it...there is a point when it's just too much without some assistance. Granted, most tracks in the US are death traps. After all, tire technology can only go so far...the contact patch is a constant. It would be a great experiment.
Maybe it's just me, but motogp has kind of lost it's luster. Perhaps they should use SBK engines, production electronics, and have unlimited chassis, brakes, and suspension. Seems like it would solve many of the issues that they've been trying to address by forcing factories to supply engines, etc.....

Big fan of Rossi's riding put not such a fan of the person.
IMO he should have told JB what he was going to do then present it as a mutual decision with JB.
It was a douche move the way he did it.
Hopefully JB works with Hayden next year and they kick Rossi's ass.
big fan of Maverick but Im thinking that him and Luis get in a scrap and the kid (relative term) Alex Rins takes the title, then he backs it up next year when his Estrella-Galicia team switch over to Honda.
next year Luis and Maverick will be team-mates at Pons Racing in Moto2 taking the place(s) of Pol Espargaro and Tito Rabat.
Moto2 is going to be the shit next season with 2013 World Supersport champion Sam Lowes on a factory Speed-Up and 2013 AMA Superbike champion Josh Hayes riding for the new Caterham Moto2 squad. (the same Caterham that races in F1) He will be partnered with fast young Frenchman Johann Zarco.
my dark horse for Moto2 next year is super quick and likeable Malaysian rider Hafizh Syahrin.

Yeah, I really don't think Maverick has what it takes to cross the finish line first against those other two on the 250. Hope he proves me wrong. Can't wait for the 600s next year though!
Wasn't it Burgess that figured out how to give Mick his rear-brake back?

I should have said slower.

Valencia should be entertaining this weekend.
